Tour & Giveaway: Love and Loss at Whitmore Manor by Anita Stansfield

Love and Loss at Whitmore Manor by Anita Stansfield.
Audience/Genre: Adult, Historical Fiction, Romance.
Publication: November 1st 2017 by Covenant Communications.
For nearly three years, British Officer Tristan Whitmore fought bravely for King and Crown in America. But his loyalty came at a price, and after slowly recovering from battlefield injuries, it is finally time to return to his beloved England and his wife, Muriel. But there is to be no tender reunion at Whitmore Manor—instead, Tristan is stunned to learn of his wife’s deceit in his absence and her unexpected death. And to add to the shocking blow, this devastating news is delivered by the last woman Tristan ever hoped to see again.

Olivia Halstead lost everything after the death of her father but found refuge with her cousin Muriel while Muriel’s husband was at war. Now, with the loss of her cousin, Olivia feels she has trespassed too long on the hospitality of the family. But before she can depart, Muriel’s husband returns, and Olivia’s own thorny history with the man comes rushing in: years ago, theirs was a tender courtship—followed too soon by a bitter parting of ways.

Now two people divided by past betrayal find an unforeseen chance for reconciliation. But when Tristan and Olivia find themselves on opposite sides of a revolution, will their clashing allegiances tear them apart forever?

Reviewed by Kelly.

What I love about Anita Stansbury’s books is that there is always a moral to the story and there is also faith to be considered in her characters. It always makes me think about those things after I am done.

The very beginning of the book grabs you and makes you wonder what Tristan’s life has been like and why he would feel as low as he does. Then the story gives you Tristan’s character and that he is an honorable man but something is amiss in his life. Then we learn all about his life and his past decisions and the mistakes he has made. But it kind of makes you see him as human and not some romantic superstar with all the faults most of us make.

The romance between Tristan and Olivia is different than most. They had a past and are trying to reconcile that past and mistakes that were made and some of the new pieces of their lives and beliefs.

I love the connections they all have to Tristan’s father and the way they love and care for his ailing father.

There was some suspense and it kept the pace of the book moving. The characters are all believable and I enjoyed the friendships and the way the servants all interacted with one another.

Overall, it is a very enjoyable story!

You and I need to be together; we need to share our lives in every respect. I need you. More importantly, I love you. And I want to devote my life to caring for you and making you happy.

If you like honor and duty, treason, faith, making up for past mistakes, apologies, some people who are without honor, medical skills, friendships of a lifetime then this might be for you

Tour & GIveaway: Enchant (Enchanted #1) by Micalea Smeltzer

Enchant (Enchanted #1) by Micalea Smeltzer.
Audience/Genre: Mature Young Adult, Paranormal, Romance.
Publication: November 17th 2017.
Mara Pryce never imagined that her life was anything but normal and then a strange gray-eyed young man appears at her graduation. When he vanishes without a trace, she’s convinced he’s a figment of her imagination. Then he appears again and shatters her whole world.

Mara is an enchanter, part of an ancient line of Wiccan power, and a war is raging—one of good and evil—between the Enchanted and the Iniquitous.

The Iniquitous want her dead and it’s Theodore’s job as her protector to keep her safe.

When Mara and Theodore arrive at a safe house, where Mara will remain hidden while learning about her powers, they find that the real threat might be a little closer to home than they want to believe.

Reviewed by Kelly.

Enchant is a swirling mix of emotions with characters who are complex and a story that makes you wonder what is going to happen next. This book is more of a baseline, I think, to the real fight that will ensue in the coming books. I think we learn more about who these characters are in this book; what they feel, and who they team up with. But also, as the reader we try to figure out who we can trust and know that the time for safety will come to the end soon enough.

Where the book is labeled young adult, I would say it reads more as a new adult or a mature young adult. They did act a lot like teenagers though, slightly immature at times. Sometimes it just read slow for me and other times fast. I wouldn’t let my teenager read it though. That’s just me.

Mara and Theodore dance this dance wanting to be together but the rules say they can’t as Protector and Chosen One. They are stuck like glue they should be together anyway. You fight harder for the ones you love in my opinion. But it doesn't matter because neither one's heart can live without the other.

His eyes flicked down to my lips and he groaned. "You are my greatest fight and my longest battle." Before I could process what his words meant, his lips stole my breath.

"You make me blind," he breathed against my lips. "Blind to my fears and my duties and everything I've ever known."

The story is definitely good vs evil and the origin of the Enchanters and Iniquitous shows how the evil ones pretty much sold their soul to the devil to become what they are. They want power and will kill to have what they want. They want the Enchanters dead.

We learn more about Mara’s family as time goes on. And her family is at the heart of all that is going on. So Mara is basically hunted. Mara learns her magic pretty fast!

So Mara and Theodore with Theo’s sister and Winston (another Chosen One) with Ethan and Nigel the cat are running at the end because all hell breaks loose and it leaves on a cliffhanger! How I hate cliffhangers!

If you like good vs evil, stories with fighting, magic, jealousy, bantering, safe houses, family and cliffhangers then this might be for you!

Contents: language, and open door intimacy

Cover Reveal & GIveaway: My Sister's Intended by Rachael Anderson

Coming Spring 2018
My Sister's Intended by Rachael Anderson

For as long as Prudence can remember, it has been understood that her sister will one day wed the eldest son of their nearest neighbor. Such an alliance will benefit both families and bring a great deal of joy to all parents involved.

Unfortunately, Prudence has never been able to feel as joyful. She believes her sister is mad to consider marrying a man she hardly knows, even if he will one day make her a countess. Titles and wealth shouldn't factor into matters of the heart, and as an aspiring romance novelist, Prudence cannot fathom how anyone could even think of settling for less than love. She certainly wouldn’t, and she doesn't want her sister to either.

Unable to stand by and do nothing, Prudence sets out to help the awkward couple discover the best in each other with the hope that they will eventually find love. What she neglected to foresee, however, was that she might fall in love with Lord Knave herself.

Tour & GIveaway: For Castle and Crown by Sian Ann Bessey

For Castle and Crown by Sian Ann Bessey.
Audience/Genre: Historical Fiction, Romance.
Publication: November 1st 2017 by Covenant Communications.
After years spent fighting alongside King Richard in the crusades, Lord Edmund of Hawksford is finally returning to his ancestral home. But far from a joyful reunion, what awaits him is devastation. His elder brother is dead, killed in a tragic fire at Hawksford Castle—and the title of duke now falls to Edmund.

When he strives to rebuild the fire-scarred castle, Edmund learns that his was not the only life the fire shattered: his childhood friend Lady Phillipa survived the flames that took Edmund’s brother, but badly burned, she has hidden herself away from those she loves. Yet as the pair renews their acquaintance, they find that their affection runs deep—perhaps even deeper than they’d ever realized.

As Edmund and Pippa begin to question whether the fire was truly an accident, they must discover the truth of the past before they can plan for their future. While coming perilously close to the answers they seek, Edmund and Pippa find themselves at the mercy of a dangerous foe who will stop at nothing to lay claim on Hawksford—and he will destroy any who stand in his way.

Reviewed by Kelly.

Refreshing and more telling of how times really were and how couples should be! This book shows a story in a time without a lot of technology and battle scars are worn more often then not.

Edmund comes home to find nothing as he left it. His brother and his new bride are gone from a fire. His childhood best friend Lady Pippa was also burned in the fire and has hidden herself in a convent trying to hide her scars and just serve others. There is troubles with rebuilding the tower where the fire was. Superstition exists. There is someone trying to take over Edmund's rightful place as Duke.

Edmund was also wounded while on the Crusades. Edmund is a righteous man. He is honorable. He only wants what is best for his home and those who need him! As Pippa and Edmund become reacquainted, they find themselves falling for each other. But they can not be together until they stop whatever force seems to be trying to stop Edmund and take everything he loves!

Perhaps what I like best about this book is that Pippa and Edmund are help meets to each other. Edmund and Pippa respect each other and they listen to the other! Edmund had taught Pippa as a young girl how to do many things that probably weren't appropriate for a Lady but it came in handy. She has a lot of faith! She is awesome with a knife! Pippa's scars make a lot of movement painful but she doesn't whine or dwell on it but moves forward and pushes through the pain! Edmund learns to let go of being the guy and allows Pippa, albeit hesitantly, to place herself into direct danger to help get rid of the evil that is messing with the lives of the people he is responsible for. They are equals!

If you like books from medieval times, good vs. evil, scars, the Crusades, fighting for what is right, family, honor, help meets, finding real love, impossible circumstances, then this might be for you!

Reviewed by Kelly
This last book of the series of the Blood Brothers and with ties to the Sin Brothers is all action, suspense, romance and all the loose ends are tied up to for a fantastic finish!

As always, Rebecca Zanetti knows how to keep her readers glued to the book! Once I sat down to read the words grabbed me and kept me up until 3 am when it was finished! I was thoroughly engaged! I was excited to see all the other characters from the other books and I loved how these guys all form a loving family!

The words craft a story of how 3 boys (one for each book and ties to all with the last) who become blood brothers while in a boys home. These boys grow up and are on the run after killing the head guy at the home. The boys were beaten often and they had to defend or be killed! They grow up and form a detective business. This book focuses on Denver. He is still in love with Noni and she is looking for help to find a baby that was taken from her and has put Denver's picture everywhere exposing him to be seen by the sheriff and Isobel, who have been after the blood brothers for years. Now that they know where he is both Noni and Denver are targets by the gang who have the baby and the evil Dr Isobel. Nonstop action people!! Fix one problem and another is in it's place. So, Denver can't commit to Noni because Denver doesn't believe he will make out of this situation alive and he also doesn't think he deserves her either. Silly, I know, who wouldn't want one of these honor bound, family oriented big dudes!?!

Ugh, it's just really good!!

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

“Magic is like water. It’s required for all things on this earth to live and it cycles through the world to be reused over and over again. Some things, even some people, soak up more of it than others or require more of it to live. Children are usually more attuned to it than most. They soak it up like little sponges.” Each word from his lips carried a weight I could feel hanging in the air. “Any being on earth is capable of using it, although humans lost interest and forgot how to do that a very long time ago. Most of them can’t even see it or feel it anymore. Their minds have turned to things of metal. It can be that way for faeries, too. In fact, a lot of us have fallen from our former glory to be fed by the machines of the modern world.”

A strange, wild hunger rose up in me so suddenly it made my body stiffen. If magic was real, then surely it had something to do with all the strange things that had been happening to me. I needed to know more—I needed to understand.

“Where does it come from?”

“The moon.” He paused, holding a liquor bottle in each hand as he turned to look me in the eye. “Or at least, that’s what the old songs say. No one knows for sure. But magic is raw energy that we can use as we choose. Even a small amount can accomplish miraculous or even terrible things.”

Blast & Giveaway: Stone Silence by Taylor Dean

Stone Silence by Taylor Dean

Great big beautiful love.

Does it really exist?

Everyone tells me it does. They say, “Spencer Elliott, don’t worry, you’ll find it one day. You just have to find the right man and when you do, it will surprise the heck out of you.”

I’m still waiting for that heck of a surprise to hit. It has proven to be elusive thus far. I’m pretty sure the entire world is lying about love and the joke is on me.

I know I want a man in my heart and in my life. Unfortunately, most men immediately push my OFF button and I lose interest quickly.

Feeling pressure to prove I’m trying to find my soulmate, I finally give in and agree to a date. Huge mistake. Afterward I find myself abandoned in the middle of nowhere, in desperate need of help.

That’s when I meet Stony by chance.

He’s a silent and unsmiling man who intrigues me with his ability to keep going after life has knocked him down. Suddenly the abstract notion of love becomes tangible and within my reach. Once I experience it, I wonder how I ever lived without it.

That’s when I stay with Stony by choice.

But when Stony’s hidden past and present-day reality collide, his silence is broken. And the truth about his life nearly brings me to my knees. I can’t compete with ghosts from the past.

I refuse to fight for a man’s love. He either loves me or he doesn’t. It’s as simple and as complicated as that.

My only hope is . . . he does.

The Sound of Silence Series is a three book series.

Book One: Stone Silence, Spencer’s Story
Book Two: Jailbird, Mia’s Story
Book Three: Hothouse Flower, Shay’s Story

Each book has a happy ending and there are no cliffhangers. They are not standalones and should be read in order.

Hate waiting for the next book in a series?

You won't have to wait long!

Jailbird, Book Two will be released on December 1st, 2017
Hothouse Flower, Book Three will be released on January 1st, 2018
What readers are saying about STONE SILENCE:
This story just wrapped me in its arms and held me tight. I adored the characters and never wanted the book to end. Dean weaves a heart-tugging romance like nobody else's business. Her books are always a feast to my literary mind and always go on my To-Read-Again pile once I finish.
-Charissa Stastny, Author
Once again Dean takes the raw pain and hurt many of us can relate to, and creates a perfectly romantic tale for readers to escape into, giving us hope, love, second chances and ultimately that believable happily ever after we all seek for as true romance lovers.
-Mylissa's Reviews and Book Thoughts

“He kicked me out of the car. I’ve been walking for hours. Please,
if you could just . . .”
“No,” he says emphatically with a raised voice. Then again it’s as
if he’s quietly speaking to himself. “I can’t do this. I’m not ready.”
“No?” I ask, feeling unbelief. If he’ll just let me finish a
sentence, I’ll ask him for water and be on my way. “I just want a . . .”
“Roby’s just up the road,” he interrupts.
“Please, just a . . .”
“Someone will help you there,” he says with finality.
There’s a reason this guy lives all by himself in the boondocks.
He’s about as friendly as a rabid dog. I doubt there’s a prince hiding
underneath his stern demeanor. Only a beast.
Our eyes lock for a few moments. I implore him for help and I’m
met with an unyielding gaze. I feel like I just ran into a rock wall. Hard.
Help is not here. Help is not anywhere. Despair engulfs me and I
feel utterly defeated. I war between begging and my pride. My pride wins and
that’s my downfall. “Never mind,” I whisper as my voice cracks. The impending
rain will save me. I’ll cup my hands and drink to my heart’s content. I’ll find
someone else to help me. Surely there’s another house down the road.
If there isn’t, it doesn’t matter. If I’m going to survive, I have
to save myself.
Go me.
There’s no sign of compassion in this man. I cast a longing-filled
glance at his motorhome and wonder if I can make a run for it and attack his
faucet before Mr. Unfriendly even has the chance to get down from his ladder.
I know I don’t have the strength, so I turn to leave.
My gait is wobbly and I falter. The buzzing in my head increases
in volume. My head feels as though it has turned into one huge pulsing
heartbeat. I don’t want to die out here. It strikes me as odd that I might die
in the middle of the heartland because I couldn’t find anyone to help me. So
much for friendship being the Texas state motto. Maybe they
should remind their residents to act accordingly.
I hear a deep sigh from behind me. I don’t know how I hear it above
the roar in my head. It sounds as though it’s miles away and yet whispered in
my ear. Then the man says something unintelligible under his breath as his
conscience gets the best of him. I hear that loud and clear.
“Wait,” he says. “I’m sorry. Of course I’ll help you. Please come
Slowly, I turn to face him, ready to express my gratitude. The
clouds roll in at that very moment and the sky darkens. A few raindrops land on
my face and I instinctively turn my head toward the heavens, hoping moisture
will inadvertently land in my waiting mouth.
Instead, the simple act of
moving my head leaves me reeling and the lights go out as I fall to the ground
in a crumpled heap.
