Here are a couple of sneak peeks!

ETERNAL NIGHT, by Jade Kerrion
Ashra’s hand trailed across Jaden’s muscled torso. He made it easy for her to be gentle. His body trembled as if he longed for her. His mouth was hungry for her kiss. He arched up against her, as if craving more. His need was like a living creature, wild and aching for her touch.

Eyes closed, Ashra shivered. Only one other person had desired her as much.

And he was dead.

She forced her way through the memories of pale bodies tangled upon cool silk sheets. When her soul-sucking power leeched out, it found no opposition. Images of the human’s life rewound in a blaze of vivid sights, sounds, and sensations.

Ashra looked up at Tera, her smile little more than a barely perceptible curve of her lips. “He fancies himself the protector of the child of prophecy. Was she among those taken tonight?”

Tera nodded.

Ashra chuckled, the sound without humor. “It’s a pity her genetic heritage wasn’t sufficiently superior to prevent her from being culled.”

“There’s more. Go deep.”

She pushed past the blackness at the start of his memories, expecting deeper darkness. Instead, the colors shifted into shades of ochre and gray. Memories, older than his body, resided in his soul; memories of an Earth long since lost to them—a planet surrounded and nourished by water; images of tall buildings glistening beneath a benevolent sun, and of thriving cities filled with the bustle of humans; memories of quiet and intimate conversations beneath a silver moon, the same silver moon that now graced Malum Turris with its light, though a thousand years older and viewed only from beneath the protection of the dome.

She saw herself as he must have seen her, a much-younger icrathari, still hopeful for the future, never realizing that the Earth they had all known and loved was irretrievably lost. Had she ever looked that vulnerable? Had her smile ever been so beautiful, so filled with love as she looked upon—

“Rohkeus?” Oh, blessed Creator, was that stricken whisper her voice?

Ashra pulled back and stared at the human. Her mouth dropped open. Her heart pounded in her chest, its beat erratic. It couldn’t be. It simply couldn’t be—

She looked up at Tera. The other icrathari nodded.

Rohkeus’s soul reborn…in a human.

Ashra threw her head back and laughed, a despairing sound. Her prince, her love, reduced to a human? Her slender fingers coiled into fists. Her golden eyes glittering, she pushed away from him, though her body trembled from the loss of his warmth. No, the human was not Rohkeus; he could never be Rohkeus.

Steeling herself against the gasp of pain that escaped from his lips as the anesthetizing effect of her kiss faded, Ashra rose to her feet with sinuous grace. “He is not one of us. Not anymore.” Nothing had been more devastating than losing Rohkeus to a human assassin. To see his soul reborn in that contemptible and weak race was an insult to the person Rohkeus had been.

“Should we turn him into a vampire?” Tera asked.

“Kill him. Set Rohkeus’s soul free.”

A Cross to Bear: A Gabriella Cross Paranormal Romance Book 1
All around her, the sounds of baying wolves echoed in the night. Trees slapped her face as she ran, and she tripped more than once. She was crying now and mumbling to herself, terrified. She dared not look back, knowing that the wolves were pursuing her. She came out of the woods into a clearing leading to a tall hill. The howls came from all directions. Shadows flew through the woods in her peripheral vision, and Gabby cried out. She fell again, skinning her knee badly on a jagged rock. In her terrified state, she felt no pain, but continued as fast as she could and ran up the hill.

A snarl came from directly behind her, and she instinctively turned and cried out. A wolf was bearing down on her fast. She turned and raised a hand as the beast leapt at her with gleaming claws leading the way.

“NO!” Gabby cried.

To her amazement, the wolf changed form in mid-flight and turned into a naked man. He landed at her feet on all fours and snarled at her.

“Get away from me!” she screamed.

The naked man backed away from her warily, glancing down at his human hands with a look of confusion and shock. More wolves were coming out of the woods. They stopped when they saw the one who had turned into a human in the light of the full moon.

Gabby wasted no time considering her luck and ran as fast as she could up the hill.

“Gabriella Cross, stop!” Michael’s voice rose up over the howls.

Gabby could hardly see through her tears. She didn’t dare look back, knowing that she would find death closing in on her. She reached the top of the hill and ran across the flat expanse of rocky earth.

“Gabriella!” came the voice again.

The wolves were gaining on her.

She darted between two pines blocking her way, receiving many scrapes on her face and arms. Half blinded by tears and slapping branches, she stumbled out from between the trees and suddenly came to a steep cliff. She tried to stop, but her momentum was too great. With a terrified cry she fell forward over the cliff.

She frantically thrashed her arms as she fell to her death. Above, on the ledge, a mournful wolf cried out. The ground was coming up fast to crush her, and Gabby closed her eyes, not wanting to see her death.

Then. Suddenly. Gabriella was weightless.

Strong arms held her firmly. She opened her eyes to find a winged beast staring back at her.

Gabby passed out.

I love these authors and when I saw it, I just had to read it! The book didn’t disappoint.

These short stories by some of my favorite authors sure won my heart! I loved each of the stories and read them quickly. I am not a fan of anthologies but this one I devoured!

Saints and Sinners- It was so cute! Guys can be so stupid at times and even during these times they still were! Hehe! Even his best friend does some stupid things in it! I loved every minute of these gentlemen’s discomfort!! Of course, my heartfelt for Eloise!

The Christmas Angle – This was a very clever idea in teaching math. Here my heart poured out to both Sailing Master Able Six and Meridee. How Able got his name is sad, but what Meridee thinks of his name is so loving! Able has a photographic memory. It has been mostly a curse to him but by the end it is a blessing. Meridee is his perfect companion and “keeper”.

The Perfect Christmas- This book got me in the mood for Christmas! It has traditions and a way of bringing everyone to appreciate each other and the season and its meaning instead of the secular meaning and showing how much money you have or having to provide the best to others. I loved also how Archie saw Jane differently. She has panic attacks. Everyone coddles her. He just loves her as she is. Jane notices how he listens to her and talks to her and she is in love with him. It’s the two of them together that neither one will tell the other that’s the problem.

Goodreads / Amazon

Chapter 11: There’s Something About Rachel

Wendy had produced a Hollywood movie love song challenge. After listening to each song, guests were invited to write down the name of the film in which it had been sung. Each person who accurately matched a film title to every song received a $1,000 Nordstrom gift card. Rachel saw no reason she shouldn’t be one of them.

Rachel used the slim sterling silver pen to write in the space next to the song title “I Wanna Be Loved By You.”

“Some Like It Hot,” Mickey said at her side.

Startled, Rachel managed a grin. Her heart swelled at the easy smile aimed exclusively at her.

“Already wrote it down.” She showed him her card.

He eased onto the adjacent chaise lounge, elbows on knees facing her, and whistled. “You’ve nailed them all so far.”

Mickey wore nothing but navy swim trunks and a pair of sunglasses. His tanned arms and sleek torso glistened with sunscreen. She’d watched him—okay, spied on him using the zoom—schmoozing with the guests. He’d laughed, he’d gestured, he’d air-kissed cheeks, methodically working his way along the three sides of the infinity pool until he reached her. Popular, handsome, charming and confident, Mickey was her polar opposite.

The wedding guests luxuriated in the relative privacy. Several of Halden’s guests had starred in blockbuster superhero movies. Cobie Smulders tossed a beach ball in the pool with her young daughter in water wings and handsome husband. Cobie, a Canadian with superhero cred as the voice of Wonder Woman in the 2014 The Lego Movie, had played a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Captain America himself, the buff actor Christopher Evans, remained engrossed in conversation with Halden, Garth, and Tiffany at one of the larger shaded tables. Rachel yearned to overhear Apollo and Captain America’s conversation!

The next song rolled out of the speakers. Ewan McGregor and RenĂ©e Zellweger sang “Here’s to Love.”

“Down with Love!” Mickey and Rachel blurted simultaneously, then laughed. Rachel scribbled the movie title on her card.

“Do you know the year of the film?” Mickey asked.

“2003.” Rachel fished out an ice cube from the glass of water placed at her side and applied it to an especially itchy mosquito bite on her neck that had been driving her crazy all morning. Mindful of the wedding that afternoon, she resisted the urge to scratch. Candy’d have a fit if she saw red welts covering her bridesmaid’s exposed skin. And her skin sure had been exposed the previous night. In the lake. With her legs wrapped around Mickey’s waist and her tongue down his throat. Heat pooled down there. She eyed the infinity pool, longing to jump in and cool off before Mickey twigged to her lustful thoughts.

“Who was the director?”

With difficulty she focused on answering his question. “Peyton Reed. Jeff Cronenweth, Down with Love’s cinematographer, was nominated for an Academy Award for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”

Mickey’s dark brows lifted above the rim of his shades. “Impressive. How did you absorb so much arcane movie trivia?”

“I’m a cinephile,” she admitted. “There’s so much to learn from watching films, even the ones that bomb at the box office.”

Mickey swung his legs up onto the adjacent chaise lounge, leaned back, and folded his hands behind his head. “Who has time to watch every movie that opens? Not me, and I’m in the business.”

She shrugged. “Eat, sleep, work, watch movies and TV series on my laptop—it’s pretty much all I do up here in Muskoka.”

“No boyfriend?”

“Boyfriends tie you down.”

“Kinky.” Speculation had Mickey raising his sunglasses to peer over at her. “Count me in.”

Author Bio:

Madelle completed four novels before Ellora’s Cave Publishing Inc. contracted to publish her debut romantic suspense, Diamond Lust—republished as Diamond Hunter—and a sexy, short free read, The Next Big Thing, in 2010.

When Madelle realized her author voice is more suited to light, humorous contemporary romance, she went waaaay back to her teen years for the Hollywood in Muskoka series setting. Madelle, her sisters, and assorted pets enjoyed idyllic summers at a lake in the District of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada, named by National Geographic Traveler magazine as one of their top 20 Best of the World Must-see Places.

The Muskoka lakes’ forested shorelines are dotted with palatial properties owned by wealthy families and Hollywood celebrities. At sixteen, being neither rich nor famous, Madelle worked briefly as a chambermaid at the now-closed Delawana Inn, a local resort.

Madelle is retired from an engineering career in the federal public service and lives in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, with her husband. She tries to keep fit with cycling, Pilates, and yoga, and dreams of owning a waterfront cottage. Or at least a pool.

She tweets and posts on Facebook and Goodreads about Hollywood, filmmaking, Muskoka, and, of course, writing. She blogs the second Tuesday of the month at romancingthegenres.blogspot.com and occasionally on her own website.

To Move the World (Power of the Matchmaker) by Regina Sirois

To Move the World (Power of the Matchmaker) by Regina Sirois.
Audience/Genre: Romance, Historical Fiction.
Publication: October 1st 2016.
Eve Brannon never had to bother planning out her future. In the Yorkshire dales where life is harder, it is also simpler. Next in line to inherit her family's farm, she will raise another generation of children and sheep high in the uplands of England. Waiting until next year when she is 19 to marry her father's handsome hired hand, Alan, is the detail she added herself.

But in 1939 even the most stalwart corners of the world are vibrating with the tremors of change. Eve's long-anticipated proposal comes on the wings of losing Alan to the Royal Army and at the brink of the farm's profitable war years the sheep herd is decimated by a mysterious illness. With her steady future suddenly in the clutches of a capricious fate, Eve is introduced to Jonathon Doran, a land manager anxious to prove himself in a crisis, and she discovers that the solid earth beneath her feet is moving after all.

Reviewed by Kelly.

I’m not sure how I feel about the book. I suppose it may have more to do with the time or the location. I don’t understand some of the words and their meanings of people from that time. I had difficulty understanding some things. I would have to reread things before I got it. I suppose the feelings of an older teenager would think of love differently as well. I didn’t see the attachment she had. I also didn’t understand why she would end up doing the same thing the second time around. I wasn’t sure who she would choose in the end. I didn’t get to meet Miss Pearl until way later in the book.

Despite all those, I did like the story. I thought Theo was a hoot! She is a sassy friend to be sure. I liked Jonathon Doran and his family, even though his brother was a scoundrel!

If you like stories before the War, growing up, having to grow up early because you live on a farm, finding the right kind of love, heartbreak, then this might be for you.

Regina Sirois believes in a lot of things: running outside when it's raining, walking to the mailbox barefoot, banana popsicles on hot days, crisp, white sheets, and especially the power of words.

She identifies herself as a reader first and a writer second, and as such her loyalty lies with readers. She believes that a book should not just mildly entertain- it should change us.

She graduated summa cum laude from Missouri State's Departments of History and English and settled in the golden wheat fields of Kansas with her High School love. She is currently doing laundry (probably) and raising her two daughters. She fell in love the day she learned to read and cried the first time she did a word problem in math ("But it's not a problem..." sob, sob. "It's a story!").

In her debut novel, Sirois explores the many ways we get love wrong, and why, despite every disappointment, we keep fighting to get it right.

Any hope she has of winning her ex-boyfriend back is shattered when the town rezones her neighborhood, forcing her to spend senior year at a wealthy high school in the next town over.

With a broken heart consuming her soul, Isla can’t focus on anything, except maybe Emory Underwood—a ridiculously hot guy who dates a new girl almost every day. She can’t help but crush on him, even though it’s wrong.

Just when Isla’s heart is finally on the mend, Emory shows up, forced to atone for all the broken hearts he’s caused over the years. While hiding her massive crush, she helps him understand the seriousness of breaking a heart.

In turn, Emory offers to help Isla get back on the dating scene by agreeing to be her fake date for the homecoming dance. Isla gladly accepts the ruse, because if anyone can make her into a desirable girlfriend, Emory can! There’s just one small problem.

Isla’s little crush on Emory might be exactly full blown. And a homecoming fake date with him could push her over the edge to possibly uttering the “L Word!”

Isla can’t afford another heartbreak so soon after the last one. She will have to resist his charms, refuse to look into those dreamy eyes, and above all else, not make the mistake of letting him kiss her.

If only she hadn’t let her guard down at the end of the night, under the light of her porch in a toe-curling kiss moment of weakness. And now, after months of Break-Up Support Group therapy, and with a heart fully on the mend, Isla has just handed it over to a guy who knows full well just how to break it.

EXCERPT:

The first time Nate and I went to the movies was during eighth grade. His dad had picked me up and dropped us off since we weren’t old enough to drive, and I still remember how hard my heart pounded from the backseat of Mr. Mile’s Tahoe. Even over the country music his dad blasted everywhere he went, I feared Nate would hear my heartbeat doing jumping jacks and know I was freaking out. This was an official date after all. My first.

It was the start of December, and it was freezing cold outside. I wore a denim skirt and leggings in an effort to be cute, but the cold had me shivering like a maniac while we waited in line to buy tickets. And then thirteen-year-old Nate took off his jacket, a junior high letterman, and draped it over my shoulders. It didn’t do anything to stop the cold from crawling up my legs, but I was warm all the same. A boy had given me his jacket. I still have that jacket to this day, hanging somewhere in the back of my closet. It officially became mine on that first Christmas we spent together.

We weave our way into the theater, which is oddly packed. Even on a Friday night, this place is usually dead. The theater survives on grant money and Mr. Hasting’s massive trust fund.

The concession stand is whimsically lit up with an old-fashioned marquee hanging overhead. All of the items and prices are meticulously labeled with black plastic letters, and a strand of clear lightbulbs light up the border of the menu, the lights chasing each other around the rectangle. Nate stops at the back of the line, and I take his hand again, glad that we’re finally alone.

The smell of popcorn makes my mouth water. “Large popcorn with butter,” Nate says, taking his VIP member card out of his back pocket. It’s what gets us free concessions. “And two drinks.”

“Two?” I ask, lifting an eyebrow. The large popcorn makes sense—we usually get a medium, but I’d said I was starving. But one drink with two straws is how we’ve always done date nights.

Nate shrugs. “I want my own drink tonight.”

I don’t know why that stings, but it does.

“Is everything okay with you?” The words are out of my mouth, all nagging and whining at the same time. I instantly regret that I even asked. Especially when his reaction is anything but ideal.

He shrugs again and leads the way toward the theater on the left, popcorn in one hand and his own personal drink in the other. “I’m fine.”

My brows draw together as we walk. “You seem weird.”

“Well, I’m not.” He doesn’t even look at me. And when the movie starts playing, we eat our popcorn and we drink our separate drinks. And we don’t kiss, not even once.
