Blog Tour & Giveaway: Romancing the Ranger by Jennie Marts

Romancing the Ranger by Jennie Marts.
Audience/Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance.
Publication: March 14th 2016 by Entangled Publishing, LLC (Lovestruck).
Reese Hudson meant to destroy mementos from her last failed relationship, not burn down an outhouse and incur the wrath of a sexy park ranger. When the judge rejects her offer to pay for the structure and sentences her to rebuild it—with the hot ranger supervising—she embraces the challenge to take control of her life.

Park ranger Wade Baker wants nothing to do with the rich city girl, no matter how tempting he finds her lush curves. She’s too much like his ex-fiancĂ©e, and if he’s learned anything, it’s that women like Reese don’t fit into his world. And he sure as hell wants no part of her big city life.

Reese may not know a hammer from a screwdriver, but she’s working hard to prove she’s not just some pampered princess to be toyed with. And damn it if Wade doesn’t admire her tenacious spirit. If only they got along half as well outside the bedroom as they do in it, there might be a chance for them after all…

Thanks so much for helping me to celebrate the release of Romancing the Ranger- my newest book in Entangled Publishing’s Lovestruck line.

Music is such an integral part of our lives and can draw up emotions by hearing just a few notes. For this book, I’d love to share a little of the music behind Romancing the Ranger.

The story is a romantic comedy about Reese Hudson, a city girl, who meets a hunky park ranger when she accidentally burns down a structure in his state park and is required to rebuild it under the sexy ranger’s supervision.

Wade and Reese have great chemistry and the sparks fly in and out of the bedroom. Wade is a country boy through and through and Reese is a city girl, completely out of her element trying to complete a task that she has no idea how to do. One thing I love about Reese is that keeps a positive attitude and is willing to jump in and try all of these new experiences.

So the song- Try Everything by Shakira would have to be Reese’s theme song. These lyrics fit her perfectly:

I messed up tonight, I lost another fight
I still mess up but I'll just start again
I keep falling down, I keep on hitting the ground
I always get up now to see what's next

Birds don't just fly, they fall down and get up
Nobody learns without getting it wrong

I won't give up, no I won't give in
Till I reach the end and then I'll start again
No I won't leave, I wanna try everything
I wanna try even though I could fail

And for how she feels about Wade, I think her song for him and her situation would be the new song by Meghan Trainor, because she would think, “I’m gonna love you Like I’m Gonna Lose You” about Wade.

Wade is a country boy, and I imagine his playlists have a lot of old country like Johnny Cash and George Strait and Merle Haggard. I can imagine that he’d have a little of the modern stuff too like a little Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, and some Blake Shelton.

I think some country songs for Reese and Wade would involve summer time and fishing and being in his truck. Like:

Brad Paisley’s Beat this Summer, with lyrics like:

“As long I live, whatever I do,
As great as it is, you know what’s a bummer
I ain’t ever gonna beat this summer with you”.

And Jake Owen’s Barefoot Blue Jean Night that says “Yeah, caught up in a Southern summer, a barefoot, blue jean night”.

And Florida Georgia Line: Cruise, who sing:

“She was sippin’ on Southern and singin’ Marshall Tucker
We were falling in love in the sweet heart of summer
She hopped right up into the cab of my truck and said,
“Fire it up, let’s go get this thing stuck.”

When Reese and Wade are alone and being romantic, I imagine they listen to a little Tim McGraw as he sings You Turn Me On.

And finally, I think the new version of Haley Reinhart singing Elvis’ classic hit, I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You is the perfect song for Reese and Wade. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZkih54evUs

  3. I've known so many good ol' boys like Wade. The book sounds good, and I'll add it to my TBR list.
