Release Week Blitz & Giveaway: Fall with Me (Wait for You #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Fall with Me (Wait for You #4)
by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Audience/Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance.
Publication: March 31st 2015 by Avon.
Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.

Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.

But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

Someone—was it Melvin?—catcalled as Reece led me down the hall, and my cheeks flushed. “Okay, heman, I can walk all by my little self.”
He cast a look over his shoulder at me as he opened the office door. “I’m sure you can.”
Then he pulled me inside.
My gaze flipped to the roses—the roses!—but before I could say a word, he closed the door and my back was pressed against it, his hands planted on either side of my head and his face right in mine. Like right there, within kissing distance.
Wow.
“So, I was at my father’s place in New Jersey most of the day, and you know, he lives out near the Pine Barrens, so service is shit.”
I nodded even though I really wasn’t processing what he was saying as I was too busy staring at his mouth. Those lips, fuller on the bottom, drove me to distraction.
“I pull out of his driveway and I have all these messages from Dennis,” he continued, and I finally caught on to what he was talking about. “I honestly thought he was messing with me at first.”
I cringed. “He . . . um, he wasn’t.”
He shot me a bland look. “That much I figured out.” His hands slid on the door, stopping just shy of touching my shoulders. “What did he do to you?”
“What?” I blinked.
“What did that bastard do to make you throw a book through his windshield?”
Oh. Oh. My heart was now wiggling along with my stomach. “He really didn’t do anything. I just lost my cool. He wanted to talk to me, and I didn’t want to talk to him.”
“You don’t have to talk to him.”
“That’s what Dennis said, but I shouldn’t have damaged his car.”
A muscle flexed along his right jaw. “That’s true.” He shook his head. “Damn, Roxy, can’t say I’m surprised.”
My brows flew up. “You’re not?”
He laughed under his breath. “Babe, you’ve always had a hell of a temper on you.”
Ah, that was kind of true. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
Reece cocked his head to the side. “A sexy thing, but vandalism and destruction of property doesn’t look good on you, sweets.”
“No. It doesn’t match my manicure.” I raised my hands, flashing him the blue nails.
He laughed again and then he sobered up, just like that. Cop Face was on, and yeah . . . the low coiling in my stomach told me I found Cop Face arousing. “You’re lucky. He could’ve pressed charges, and this conversation would be going in a whole different direction.”
My own half smile slipped off my face. “I know. It’s . . . I was just with Charlie, and he’s . . .” Unable to continue, I forced a casual shrug I didn’t feel. “What are you going to do with me?”
His lips parted as his chest rose with a deep breath, then his gaze dropped to my mouth, and his expression tightened. He looked . . . he looked hungry. “I have lots of ideas.”

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Bone Dry (Soul Shamans #1) by Cady Vance

Follow the other stops HERE

Bone Dry (Soul Shamans #1)
by Cady Vance.
Audience/Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy.
Publication: February 3rd 2015 by Sagan Press.
Sometimes it isn’t as easy as choosing right or wrong.

Sixteen-year-old Holly Bennett is a comic book nerd, a con artist, and a shaman. Most days Holly wishes she could trade in her power of spirit communication for something more useful--like fireballs or Wolverine claws. She knows spirits aren't exactly Casper the Friendly Ghosts. They're dangerous beings from Lower World who snack on human life, and messing with the magic from their world is an express ticket to big trouble. But when a shaman sticks her mom's mind between their world and ours, Holly becomes the unexpected breadwinner in the family. She uses her burgeoning shaman powers to set up fake hauntings and "banish" the so-called ghosts from her wealthy classmates' bedrooms. For a fee, of course.

When actual spirits start manifesting, Holly discovers that other shamans have come to town, summoning life-sucking spirits for their own ends. And the newcomers may just hold the clue Holly's been looking for--the one that can release her mom's mind from its Lower World prison. With the help of both a cute web comic artist and her partner-in-con, Holly plots to take them down, throwing her into a whirlwind of speedboat getaways, breaking and entering, and astral projections into the spirit world. And as her mom's mind slips further away, Holly has to fight to save her, and the rest of the town, before they get sucked into Lower World permanently.

There are times when I listen to the moralistic words of the angel on my right shoulder rather than the wicked whispers of the demon on my left. With Kylie Wilkinson leaning across the cafeteria table, eager to hand over cash I so desperately needed, I couldn’t help but smack the halo off that perfect little angel.

“Two hundred bucks,” I said, holding my hand palm up. The eagerness on Kylie’s heart-shaped face fell into a scowl. She tucked a stray strand of glossy hair behind her polka-dotted headband and shifted in her seat.

“You’ve got to be kidding me, Holly.”

I pulled back my hand, closed my fingers into a fist and pretended to be interested in my bologna sandwich. That move got them every time. The din of cafeteria chatter rose up around us as we sat in silence. Girls laughed, plates clattered and sneakers squeaked. Five seconds passed before Kylie cleared her throat.

“Okay, wait.” She reached into her Eddie Bauer backpack and pulled out her wallet.

I kept my attention on my sandwich, nibbling away while she anxiously counted the cash. She had exactly four fifties which made me think she already knew what I charged and had been playing me to see if I’d go lower.

A guy walking by our table stopped to watch the transaction. I turned to raise my eyebrows at the tall, thin figure towering over us. Nathan Whitman, Kylie’s ex-boyfriend. He flashed a grin at me, his dark, wavy hair curling on his forehead, his high cheekbones carving a V on his otherwise boyish face. I smiled around my sandwich and hoped I didn’t have bits of meat stuck between my teeth.

“Is our friendly, neighborhood ghostbuster in action again?”

I’d taken a case for Nathan last year. He’d thought he was being haunted—they all did. Before that day, I’d considered Nathan just another bland guy navigating the Seaport High popular crowd. A preppy sailor only interested in country clubs and stock points. But after seeing the stacks of comic books in his room, I decided there might be an interesting guy hiding behind the polo shirts.

Not that I’d ever had the time to find out.

My head is still pounding when my eyes flutter open the next day. My brain is throbbing inside my skull and I punch the pillow underneath me, scaring Jinx out of his slumber. He meows in protest before hopping off the bed. Looking around, I’m in my bed. How did I get here? I groan in pain as I prop my pillows up and lean my head back against them. It’s then that I feel the eyes on me. Tilting my head straight again, I glance out my window. My eyes lock with those big brown eyes of Jared’s across the way. He looks down to his phone and back up again. My phone chimes with an incoming text.
“UGHHH!” I moan, blindly reaching for it. It slips a few times before I grasp it between my fingers and look down to read.
How are you feeling?
Closing one eye, I text back, Like someone ran over me with a truck, then backed up and ran me over again.
Lowering my phone, I watch as he smiles from my text and disappears from view. I’m trying to piece last night back together; it’s like a fragmented mirror that has shattered all over the corners of my mind. I remember laughing with Ro about her sexual conquests and then I remember red and blue lights and… Jared. Starting to feel hot, I throw the covers off of me and lay like a starfish, trying to get my mind to focus. Glancing down, I notice I’m wearing my pajamas. Before I can process any further, the door to my room creaks open. Jared walks in with a cup of water and a closed fist.
“How did you get in?!” I yelp, trying to sit up in bed, and pulling the covers back over my braless tank top.
“I left the back door open when I left last night,” he informs me as he opens his fist to show me he brought a hand full of Advil.
“You brought me home last night?” I rub my head before reaching for the pills and water.
“Yup, after you called me to pick you up from the police station.”
“I WAS WHERE?!” I scream as water comes spraying out of my mouth.
“Police station. Apparently, you popped a guy in the face.” He smirks.
I squint my eyes, vaguely remembering the heavyset guy that tried grabbing my ass in front of the bar.
“Whoa!” I have to lean my head back against my pillows when the information begins to become too much for me. “If you took me home, how did I get into pajamas?!”
The smile that crosses Jared’s face is a mixture of a blush and a sly smirk that makes my insides twist with anticipation and excitement. “Jared…”
“That… you did on your own. I had nothing to do with that!” He holds his hands up in surrender.
“What? I just stripped in front of you!”
“Well, once you got your shirt off, there was really no stopping you…” he teases and my eyes widen in embarrassment.
“Oh my God!” I slump down, pulling the covers back up to my face. “Did we… ya know…” I mutter, completely mortified now.
“Uh, that would be a no.”
“Oh, thank God!” I sigh.
“Thanks a lot!” He comes to his feet now, turning to look out the window.
“Not like that, it’s just … I don’t like to do things I’m not conscious for.”
“Yea, completely plastered girls that get arrested and throw up in bushes are really sexy!” His voice drips with sarcasm.
“I threw up?!” This just gets better and better.
“Twice.”
“Twice?” I’m mortified, staring at his amused face.
“Well, after the first time I thought maybe you needed something to eat.”
“Oh no…”
“Yeah… I’ve never seen someone eat a Big Mac that fast before…” He stares at the wall as if remembering my weak moment.
“Oh my God!” I groan, throwing the covers over my entire body. I curl up in a fetal position, planning to never come out again. The room grows silent. It’s starting to get hard to breathe under the sheets when I feel the mattress by my feet cave slightly.
“Come on, it’s not that bad. We all have our moments.” He pats my feet through the sheets.
“Just when I think I’ve reached rock bottom, things just seem to drops out from under me and I’m at an all new low!” I roll over, trying to pull the covers with me, but Jared’s weight prevents it. My head comes peeking out as I roll over, facing away from him.
“April, I think I just determined your major.”
“What?” I curiously twist to look at him again.
“Drama. You’re such an actress. Now, put your big girl panties on and get up!”
I stare at him for a second; did he just say what I think he said? He waits about two seconds before getting up and opening a drawer to my dresser. “Are they in here? Nope!” He closes it and opens another.
“STOP!” I scream, stumbling out of bed, horrified.
“How ‘bout this one?”
“Okay! Okay! I’m up!” I slam the drawer closed just in time to save myself further embarrassment when Jared eyes my plain old undergarments. I sigh when the pounding in my head launches my stomach into action and I collapse onto the corner of the bed.
“You okay?”
“I refuse to puke again!” I respond, taking another deep breath. “Jared…”
“Yea…”
“I could use some donuts.”
“Okay.” He pauses for a few seconds, looking down at his feet before adding, “I’ll be outside then.”
And he leaves me alone in my room.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Part Time Cowboy (Copper Ridge #1) by Maisey Yates

Follow the whole tour HERE

Part Time Cowboy (Copper Ridge #1)
by Maisey Yates.
Audience/Genre: Contemporary, Romance.
Publication: March 31st 2015 by HQN Books.
A one-time bad girl comes home to small-town Oregon in the first in a sexy, heartfelt new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Maisey Yates…

Sadie Miller isn't expecting any welcome-home parades on her return to Copper Ridge. Least of all from part-time rancher, full-time lawman Eli Garrett. The straight-laced, impossibly hot deputy sheriff glares at her like she's the same teenage hoodlum who fled town ten years ago. But running from her demons has brought Sadie full circle, ready to make a commitment at last. Not to a man, but to a B and B. On Garrett land. Okay, so her plan has a tiny flaw…

Eli works too hard to let a blonde ball of trouble mess up his town. But keeping an eye on Sadie makes it tough to keep his hands off her. And if she's so wrong for him, why does being with her feel so right?

Reviewed by Kelly.

Eli and Sadie have both had rough and sad lives. One runs from her troubles and the other stays put making order and protecting others from troubles. They both are polar opposites and are constantly butting heads and annoying each other. But they are also drawn to each other and they combust when they are put together.

I am not a fan of casual sex stories where they just hook up. I want to see the romance build. I want to see there to be a real connection. I almost put it down but kept going. If I had known the book had more than a fair share of sex, I probably wouldn’t have read it though.

See Eli and Sadie had an awkward moment when they were arguing, as they always do, and he kissed her. That woke both up to a ‘what the heck’ moment! Then the next thing you know is they agree to casual sex with no strings attached and keep it secret. Because Eli has always only had casual sex, he doesn’t do relationships. He can’t, it would mean he would have to care and think about someone else and his job is to protect his family and keep order. He is good at what he does. He was running for sheriff. The town also looked up to the Garrett’s. His dad was a drunk after his mom left them. So he became the caretaker of Kate, his sister, and Connor his older brother. Connor took care of the ranch. Eli would put braids in Kate’s hair before school. They didn’t want people to know about their father, that he couldn’t take care of him. Eli would hide his father’s keys every night because he would worry about him being a drunk driver and one night Eli decided to do something with his friends and that one night, his father died in a drunken driving accident. Eli couldn’t forgive himself and has sworn off relationships and doing things for himself because, heaven forbid you have a life of your own! Poor Eli, I felt so sad for him.

Sadie isn’t much better with her lot in life. The night that Eli arrested Sadie as a teenager was the worst night of her life. Her dad had beaten her so badly that she ended up in the hospital. Sadie left and never turned back and has kept running since, never looking back and has repeated it over and over, until she returns home after becoming a therapist and decides to run a B and B in her hometown for 5 years. The B & B that just happens to be on the Garrett’s ranch. Conner leased it to her. He didn’t consult Eli and Eli didn’t like it at all. It contradicted with his order at home.

Sadie is so funny. I love her inner monologue and her constant innuendos that Eli would say. Eli had dried up inside and hadn't gotten what he said, until he did because Sadie made him a little happier. She is also caring. Eli was a little dry but everyone respected him. He is the part time cowboy and full time lawman. Connor is a mess, still grieving terribly after he lost his wife several years ago. He drinks a little too much and is always grumpy but he takes great care of the ranch. Kate is the little sister who remembers Eli always braiding her hair so she would look like she was cared for growing up. She likes the rodeo and wants to go professional someday. Connor’s story is next.

So back to the sex thing. I want to see things build up. I just think it puts sex to a meaningless thing. I mean after all they didn’t even like each other. Sorry, it is the way I think. Anyway, in this book sex was what it took to put the two together. It broke down their walls. During the sex, the author described their feelings and their conversations and it bonded them together. They got each other. And I fell in love with them too, I have to admit. I also have to admit the sex scenes were intense.

“…And before she could police herself, she’d reached out and grabbed his tie, her dirt-encrusted hands sliding over the fabric, leaving a pale dust streak and tugging his face down closer to hers. Her heart was pounding so hard it was making her light-headed. Her blood pumped to parts…more southerly. She had no idea what was happening to her. This was no sexual attraction as she knew it. It wasn’t anything as she knew it. She was angrier than she’d been in recent memory, and a hell of a lot more turned on, and she genuinely didn’t know how to process the two together. She also didn’t know how to process that she was inches from his face, his tie clutched tight in her hand, as his dark eyes blazed rage into hers. Rage and something else. Something hotter. Something that looked a lot like the fire burning in her belly felt. And then… and then he dipped his head, his lips crashing into hers. And that’s what it was. A collision. It wasn’t testing, or a tasting, or anything tentative at all. It wasn’t nice, or fun, or easy. It was gasoline on a lit match. An instant conflagration that had gone from spark to out of control at the moment of contact. She had no idea what was happening, only that she didn’t want it to stop. She tugged tighter on his tie and angled her head, parting his lips beneath hers ….”

The setting of the story takes place in Oregon, near the beach. Ugh, I could see it all from her description and I want to live there on a ranch, with woods, and a beach. The best of everything. The small town where everyone knows everybody. Where people were there for you. Where the Deputy did his job and people respected him. They had a great town committee. They had fishermen, ranchers, and a lot of other jobs. Like everyone just fit right in.

I see more than the sex in the book and I probably could have done without so much of it and still would have loved it. But I see how each time they were together; it opened an old wound and healed it completely. Because Eli and Sadie were covered in them.
