The road to trouble is paved with sweet temptation…

Always the rebel in her ultra-conservative family, Quinn Sakata dreams of quitting her dad's real-estate business and restoring the old Mountain Ridge Bed and Breakfast in her hometown of Hope Springs. Except that Quinn's not the only person bidding on it. Worse still, her competitor is her high school crush, Heath Brantley, who is all kinds of ripped, tattooed hotness...

So much for her "nice, conservative boys" rule.

Heath has his own reasons for bidding on Mountain Ridge, and he won't give in without a fight - even to the red-lipped hottie with a sailor's mouth. But when their rivalry shifts into an unexpected zing of chemistry, Heath realizes he's in deep trouble. Because it's inevitable that emotions will get involved, and he needs to keep his eyes on the prize before they both get hurt.

I love this book! It’s sweet, sexy, and full of diversity with culture, tattoos, romance and a whole lot of kissin’. But what I really like is that this book shows that some people do wait for marriage to have sex. That some people have made values and the respect and love it takes for someone to respect their values make that guy all the better. Then she has given herself to him as his wedding present!

The words on the first page grabbed me, talking about how Quinn Sakata grew up opening her mouth before thinking and how often she got into trouble by acting impulsively. She’s sassy, fun and just a little rebellious. Yet even getting into trouble, she respects her Japanese heritage and traditions. She believes in waiting for marriage to have sex. She has had one rejection after another because of it. She’s been called a prude, a witch with a “B”, etc. At the rehearsal of her sister’s wedding she sees this tattooed guy fixing stuff in the church and Quinn just shouts out “Holy s***balls”(yeah, no filter and with her boyfriend witnessing it and had me laughing) and gets if looks could kill all around. Quinn’s boyfriend is also the brother of the groom. He and Quinn have been dating for a little while. He, Grayson, has even bought Quinn a diamond necklace. When he approaches her he wants to leave and go to the next step with Quinn. Quinn is appalled because he knows her stance on sex. He says that her sister and his brother didn’t wait so he thinks she will too. She grabs the necklace and tells him she won’t be bought and walks away from him. She tries not to ruin the wedding. When her parents find out they are outraged because Grayson is from a rich and respectable family.

Quinn is miserable working with her family. She works hard to please them but feels they are always disappointed with her. So she has her eye on the B&B in the town where her memories with her and her grandmother swinging on the porch while growing up is up for sale.

Heath is the tattooed guy that was in the church and Quinn’s crush in High School. They find out that they both want the land, she wants to rebuild the B&B, to be on her own and not under her father’s rule and he wants to build a vacation lodge with adventures of fishing and hiking etc. The town committee wants them to build a float together for the upcoming parade while they decide. Soo not a good idea to put them together.

They are both immediately attracted to each other but also not on the same page where the land comes in. So they work together trying to stomp down the attraction. When they share a kiss it is hot and sweet! So they try to date and keep the relationship secret, especially where her family is concerned because he is not the type of guy they want her to marry (or rather not the rich type). She tells him of her plans on sex but didn’t make it sound like until marriage at first. So he says ok. They do go past first base but then she says “line”, he knows he can’t go any further and he’s okay with it. It was hard for her to stop sometimes too! Quinn just worries what will happen when she explains it is until after marriage that he will run like everyone else. She knows their time together won’t be that long anyway after the decision is made for who gets the land because bitterness will set in for the loser.

I like how sweet this man covered in tattoos and piercings is with his brothers and how he is a gentleman and a romantic. How he wants more for his family. I loved how the book ended and what he did for her. Oh my gosh, it is so utterly romantic and courageous for him to have done that! I wish I could tell you, but since I can’t you have got to read it for the ending alone and I am not talking about the land either.

I want more!! (Insert whine here)

Cindi Madsen sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.
