First Impression: For some reason, I am attracted to stories of battered women. But as I hope, they learn how to change and become strong. This is a relatively short book with only 72 pages.

We have Olivia, who just didn’t get what kind of scum her so called boyfriend, Andy, is! She has known him most of her life. She comes from a wealthy family who has run into some major financial distress. Olivia is in college and has some money saved on her own. One night in a bar, Andy is drunk and lays his hand on Olivia as if to choke her. Then the hero, Bash, who works at the bar, comes to her rescue and pummels him.

Andy leaves for break and Olivia stays at school and goes to thank Bash for his help. Bash is losing his job because of Andy. Olivia and Bash have instant chemistry. Olivia finds out Bash works in a gym and is a fighter and agrees to teach Olivia self defense. They give in to their lust for each other and Olivia says she is breaking it off with Andy when he returns.

But what happens when he returns is worse than I thought. Everything goes wrong and you are left with a cliffhanger until the end of April when the next part comes out. Gah, I hate waiting!! I need answers now!

4.5 stars for leaving me hanging!

Book Blitz and Giveaway: Sunset Rising by S.M. McEachern

Sunset Rising (Sunset Rising #1)
by S.M. McEachern.
Audience/Genre: Dystopia, Young Adult.
Publication: November 12th 2013.
February 2024: Desperate to find refuge from the nuclear storm, a group of civilians discover a secret government bio-dome. Greeted by a hail of bullets and told to turn back, the frantic refugees stand their ground and are grudgingly permitted entry. But the price of admission is high.

283 years later… Sunny O'Donnell is a seventeen-year-old slave who has never seen the sun. She was born in the Pit, a subterranean extension of the bio-dome. Though life had never been easy, lately it had become a nightmare. Her mom was killed in the annual Cull, and her dad thought it was a good time to give up on life. Reyes Crowe, her long-time boyfriend, was pressuring her to get married, even though it would mean abandoning her father.

She didn't think things could get any worse until she was forced upstairs to the Dome to be a servant-girl at a bachelor party. That's where she met Leisel Holt, the president's daughter, and her fiancé, Jack Kenner.

Now Sunny is wanted for treason. If they catch her, she'll be executed.

She thought Leisel's betrayal was the end. But it was just the beginning.

An Excerpt...
“Oh, Summer. If you weren’t so picky, you could have been married by now. But whenever a boy is interested in you, you’re suddenly not interested in him. I think you like flirting more than actually having a boyfriend.”
“That’s not true. I just haven’t met the right one yet.”
“Though you do bring up a good point. You’re running out of time.”
Summer could have had her pick of any boy in the Pit. A full head shorter than me, her small stature and delicate limbs gave her an elegant, feminine quality. I always felt large and clumsy next to her.
“You know, we’re always talking about me,” Summer said. “How are you? How’s your dad?”
She might regret asking that question, but I gave her an honest answer. “Dad lost his job yesterday because he didn’t show up for work.”
“Oh, Sunny. What are you going to do?”
I heard sympathy in her voice, and exasperation, too. My father had always been a little self-destructive. My mother had done a fairly good job of protecting me from it, but without her, I was on my own with him. “I told Reyes last night I couldn’t marry him until after the next Cull.”
“You’re postponing? Again?” she asked. “That’s a bit drastic. I’m sure your father can get another job. He’s had a lot of experience in the mines.”
“He’s barely been eating since Mom left, and now he’s too weak to get out of bed.”
“But you’ve put your marriage on hold once before, and I can’t imagine Reyes is happy with postponing again. And you’re not getting any younger, Sunny. You’re almost eighteen. Aren’t you afraid Reyes is going to get fed up with waiting and move on to someone else?”
I had never thought about Reyes being with someone else. We had been together forever. And at our age, it was getting kind of late to go looking for a new partner. Of course he would wait for me. If I gave him enough time, he would eventually understand that my father needed me right now, and I couldn’t leave him.
But there was wisdom in her words. At seventeen, I was middle-aged, and that didn’t bode well for getting approval to have a child. Population control in the Pit was getting stricter all the time. Reyes really wanted a child, but if I was being honest with myself, I didn’t. I guessed that was why I didn’t feel an urgent need to get married right away.

Excerpt...
What’s the worst that could happen?
Mom’s words taunted fate, daring it to bring its A game. The minute I stepped through the doors of Cole Productions, I knew fate would deliver in spades.
The lobby looked like Andy Warhol had vomited all over the place. The walls were highlighter yellow, pink, and green. Oversized throne inspired chairs were splattered around the neon room, the cushions wrapped in loud animal print. Black and white photos hung at odd angles and on closer inspection, my stomach tumbled. They were shots of crotches and breasts with censor bars censoring absolutely nothing. The only thing that didn’t make my eyes hurt or my stomach churn was a white desk in the center of the lobby. A scantily clad woman was perched behind it, flipping through a magazine and twirling a platinum blonde lock around her pinky finger.
There was something familiar about her that I couldn’t put my finger on. When the girl looked up and her blue eyes rounded with glee, it clicked into place. The hair, complete with one side shaved, the safety pin earrings, and Nirvana shirt was a copy of one of my signature looks before I went back to brunette--and stopped trying to be edgy.
When my twin left her desk, and I saw that she rounded off the ensemble with a pink miniskirt that barely covered her vagina and knee high combat boots, I winced. I had probably looked just as ridiculous.
“Hi,” I began, clearing my throat uncomfortably. “I’m--”
The blonde skipped the formalities, throwing both arms around me and squeezing so hard she nearly cracked a rib. “Are you kidding? I know who you are! You’re Miiia!” She turned a two syllable name into four. Her teeth were blindingly white. “I’m such a huge fan. The biggest.” She pulled back, stars in her eyes. “I’m Tempest.”
I couldn’t help but smile. Tempest was dialed up to 100, and I always enjoyed meeting fans. “Badass name. It’s nice to meet you.”
Tempest hitched a breath, her intensely blue eyes welling with tears. “Nice to meet me?” She nibbled on her bottom lip as she fanned herself. “I can’t believe Mia Kent thinks it’s nice to meet me!”
“We have an 11:00 appointment with Mr. Cole.” Mom ended our moment with her rude, clipped tone. For a woman that seemed hell bent on micro-managing my career, she always had little to no patience for my fans. She forgot something key--there was no Mia Kent without them. The day I took them for granted, or failed to appreciate how amazing it was that people stood in all kinds of weather to get my autograph, bought merchandise from my show, or even emulated my style, was the day I stopped deserving them.
I flashed Tempest an apologetic smile. “Is Mr. Cole available?”
She returned it with a toothy grin. “I’ll let him know you’ve arrived.” She skipped back to her desk, a dial tone sounding above the trance music thumping from the speakers.
A gruff voice answered after four rings. “What is it?”
Tempest was either used to it or so happy go lucky that she was unfazed by her boss’s growl. “Mia Kent is here for her appointment.”
“How long have you worked here, T?” He didn’t wait for her to answer. “Nearly a year. You know I don’t want my VIPs waiting.”
The light in Tempest’s face dimmed. “I’m sorry, Sol.”
“I don’t want you to be sorry,” he berated her. “I want you do your job. I swear if you didn’t look hot as hell in a skirt, I’d fire your ass.”
The light went out completely. Tempest slumped in her chair like she wanted to disappear. The rumors were true--Solomon Cole was a dick. And it was obvious that they had done this song and dance before. From the way Tempest’s voice trembled, it still hurt every time.
“It won’t happen again,” she said softly.
He hung up on her.
I exchanged a look with my mother, but there was no sympathy on Mom’s tight, wrinkle free face. There was only impatience. “Let’s go, Mia. Mr. Cole is a busy man.”
Tempest scrawled our names on two visitor’s badges and handed them over with a broken smile. “Sol’s office is on the 15th floor. It’s kind of a maze up there, so Liam, his assistant, will meet you at the elevator.”
I thanked her, then followed my mother into the elevator. More trance music was pumped through the speakers. Instead of inspiring the need to dance, it filled me with dread. I had reconciled the meeting by telling myself the rumors about Sol’s douchebaggery were exaggerated by disgruntled ex-employees and diva former clients. He’d just dashed that argument in one fell swoop by degrading his secretary and flat out saying he only kept her around so he could ogle her.
I drew a barely steadying breath as the doors slid open. When I left the family channel, I knew I might have to deal with the ugly side of Hollywood, but I wasn’t expecting this. I was debating leaving my mother with Sol and making a run for it when I saw him.
He had to be 6’3 because I had to look up to meet his electric green eyes. They were the warmest eyes I’d ever seen. Like an embrace, a kiss that sent warmth sprawling over my body. His hair hung in dark brown waves that dusted his green eyes. I bit my lip to keep images of running my fingers through his hair at bay.
His lips were luscious as they spread into a smile. Two dimples winked in his cheeks and I knew that he belonged in my bed. His cobalt blue button down shirt was rolled up to the elbow and I saw the tease of color beneath the cuff. Tattoos? I dropped my gaze to what was going on beneath the equator--and it was just as muscled and tempting as the rest of him.
Desire clouded my view. The handsome stranger jutted out his arm to keep the elevator door from closing.
“Hi.” Hs voice was deep and hypnotic. “I’m Liam.”
Liam. I caressed the name in my mind, but the pulsing lust quickly stalled. Liam--the personal assistant that would be delivering me to Sol Cole.
I hesitated, time standing still. Should I go with the devastatingly hot guy who would take me to the devastatingly jerky guy? I swallowed, debating it until my mother gave me a small push in his direction. It was the smallest of motions--and it sent me crashing into a wall of muscle and scent. Liam smelled like Irish Spring soap, cloves, and heaven. I held on a little longer than was necessary, wondering if he was thinking what I was thinking as his smile broadened.
“Thanks for catching me,” I purred. Screw playing coy. I pushed my chest against his. My body approved, nipples aching against the thin material of my bra. Lust, rooted deep in my core, came rushing to the surface. I bit my lip as my wet juices kissed my panties.
“Anytime.” His voice stroked me as his eyes darkened in a way that made me melt. Was there anything about this guy that wasn’t deliciously sexy?
Only one way to find out...

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Third Degree by Julie Cross

Follow the Tour HERE!

Third Degree
by Julie Cross .
Audience/Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance.
Publication: March 25th 2014 by Flirt.
Fans of Monica Murphy and Tammara Webber will savor this New Adult novel—a story about coming of age in the heat of the moment—from Julie Cross, the internationally bestselling author of the Tempest trilogy.

I used to be “Isabel Jenkins, child prodigy.” As lame as that sounds, at least it was an identity. But now I’m not sure what I am. I just failed the most important exam of my life—the emotional readiness test required to get into a medical residency program—and it turns out my parents can’t stand each other. Now I’m trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces of my life, and that means re-enrolling as a college freshman, but this time I’m shutting the books and majoring in being eighteen.

But so far, my roommate hates me and I’m not into the party scene. The only good thing about school has been getting to know my insanely hot RA. Marshall Collins makes me wonder about everything I missed while I was growing up too fast. Pretty soon we’re hanging out constantly, but for the first time, I find myself wanting more than a no-strings-attached physical relationship. And the lesson I really need is one Marsh definitely can’t teach me: love. Because I’m going to be alone forever if I don’t learn fast

Advanced Praise for Third Degree...

“With quirky characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and a touching romance, Third Degree is a refreshing entry in the New Adult genre. I can’t wait to read what Julie Cross comes up with next!”—Roni Loren, bestselling author of Need You Tonight

“I fell for quirky, brainy, socially awkward child prodigy Izzy and even more so for her sweet, compassionate, and hot RA, Marshall. I was rooting for their happily-ever-after and was sighing with satisfaction by the end.”—Christina Lee, author of the Between Breaths series

“Loved! Fans of Huntley Fitzpatrick’s My Life Next Door and Tammara Webber’s Easy will fall hard for this book.”—Krista Ritchie, co-author of the Addicted to You series

I am a little biased when it comes to medicine books being a nurse in a hospital and all. I really thought this was more than an original story. It wasn’t fluff or just romance, it was more. What captured me about this book was that this 18 year old was already in medical school and was a genius. That and that the author showed how sometimes these geniuses just haven’t a good grip on socializing. That was Isabel. Because she didn’t have an emotional connection, she failed her psych testing to go on to the residency program. Now she was told to take time off and be a normal 18 year old in college. Easier said than done.

In walks, or rather outside walks Marshall, her RA on her floor of the dorms. He knows her. He knows her mom from middle school. He knows her secrets. But that doesn’t stop him from liking her and helping her succeed in her goal to get back in and go on to do surgery at John Hopkins! He helps her learn to feel and have friends. But it’s a no-no to have a relationship with your RA. But eventually, they do become involved and he switches floors so they can be together. What I like about the story is the secret that Marshall has and how it helped them connect more. How it helped her be a better doctor and person. I enjoyed Isabel’s inner working of her mind as she would realize some of the things that she had to let go of.

But, eventually, Isabel finds that sometimes feelings hurt and she runs from such a foreign and bad concept which is bad to her. It distracts her from making a diagnosis, she thinks. She says things that hurt Marshall, and in a delicate moment, he lashes out at her too. But he apologizes, but she can’t feel. She still has this misconstrued conception of life. I was at a delivery once with this Doctor who was extremely bright. I admired her, she knew everything. She was a specialist. But, I also was weary of her. She came to a delivery that was way premature. She was still in office clothes and had enough time to put on a gown and gloves. She caught the baby and then ran, in her high heels no less, to the NICU which was way across the hospital carrying that newborn in the wet and bloody blanket. I swear to you it is the truth!! She had no common sense. I still get a chuckle out of it!

Anyway, to me it was different and sweet. I loved Marshall and I thought they were great together. They both helped each other. I loved Marshall’s family. I loved Isabel’s family even though they had some issues to work out.

Dear Diary,
Leukemia’s been my life since I was eleven. Now, six years later, I want my life back. Only I’m not sure what that is.

The test results came back today. 22,000. Which means I’m officially out of remission—again.

I have three options:
1. Another round of chemo.
2. A super-new experimental drug.
3. Dump it all— forget the meds and treatments and enjoy the time I have left.

I think I know what I want.

Then, in walks Damian, changing everything.

I mean, everything.

He’s got his own set of issues. It binds us together, you know? We understand what it’s like to lose what matters most in seconds.

Still, the last thing I need is to have someone else to crush if I can’t fight hard enough. And the last thing he needs is someone else to grieve.

Never mind. I’m down to two options now.

Somehow I know that whichever one I choose, the result will be the same. With the sand in my hourglass seeping to the bottom, I hope there’s enough left to show Damian that life’s worth living. Worth fighting for.

Worth dying for.

Love Always,

But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up. While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them. With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own -- a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured. Honesty by Carrie Butler

Honesty (Mark of Nexus #2.5)
by Carrie Butler.
Audience/Genre: New Adult, Paranormal Romance.
Publication: March 16th 2014.
Note: This novella is best enjoyed after STRENGTH (Mark of Nexus #1) and COURAGE (Mark of Nexus #2). It is told from Cole's (semi-warped) POV.

Cole Blake is more than just a roguish ladies’ man. He’s also a dedicated worker—so dedicated, in fact, that he’s willing to blackmail his boss with a falsified sex tape in order to keep his job. And his proactive efforts don’t end there. After hours, he uses his Dynari abilities to moonlight as a vigilante, keeping his neighborhood safe from drunks, dealers, and would-be thieves.

Until a mistake stops him dead in his super-accelerated tracks.

Now burdened with the closest thing he’s ever had to a conscience, Cole struggles to justify his once-reckless actions. It’d be all too easy to give in to his darker impulses, especially with ERA making dangerous advances toward their goal of revolution, but embracing that hatred could jeopardize the few relationships he actually cares about—including his pursuit of the saintly Rachel Ranford. No, in order to keep everyone safe, he’ll have to come clean about his warring compulsions and ask for help... before his dark side takes over.

Reviewed by Kelly.

On Carrie’s website it says Honesty is “gritty, fast paced and hilariously...warped” That is the truth!!
This is Cole’s POV from the second book. At first, I was “Meh”, I don’t want to read someone else’s POV of a story I already read. But I am so glad I did, because it was worth every minute reading it. I couldn’t get enough of it and was laughing a lot! I wish I could share some of my favorite parts with you, but it would spoil it for you.

Cole is demented, sarcastic, obnoxious, rude, owns no filter when he talks, a vigilante, all about family, gross, witty, frustrating, foolish, disturbed, loyal, disgusting, thoughtful, sweet, a teddy bear, troubled, hilarious, courageous, chivalrous, zany, wonderful, kind, a lover of yoga, and definitely warped!

The only part I didn’t like was the end. I wanted more. I love that boy!!

And it's only $0.99 right now!!

Cover Reveal and Giveaway: Girl Lost by Nazarea Andrews

Girl Lost
by Nazarea Andrews.
Audience/Genre: Contemporary Romance.
Publication: May 1st 2014 by A&A Literary.
Everyone told me that I imagined what happened. They said I drifted for weeks, alone. When they finally picked me out of the ocean, I was almost dead. Even my brothers refused to believe anything else. And eventually, I stopped talking about the red-haired boy on an island no one’s heard of.

But I never forgot him—even though I tried....

Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories. He looks too much like the boy from the island and coaxes my secrets from me.

Peter is gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost. We are a pair of broken cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. And he listens when I talk, about the past and the terrifying future. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.

When his best friend shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. Belle is at times warm and friendly, and at other times she is violent and unpredictable.

He says he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true, what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past
*Suitable for 17+. A romantic contemporary retelling of the boy who never grew up.

An Excerpt...

I shrug. "Because I can't help but trust you. Even though it's stupid and I have no good reason for it--I want to trust you. I want you to be someone I can trust." I open my mouth, to tell him about the boy, about why it is so important to me. Why I should stay away from him, and why I can't seem to.
Peter speaks first. "I don't know who your father is. I don't know why you want to run from your past. But the thing is, Gwen, I don't care. I want to be part of now. I'll fight tooth and nail to be part of now."
"What if now is temporary?" I ask, thinking about my aunt and my tenuous grasp on sanity and all the reasons I should step away from Peter.
"Then we enjoy what we have," he murmurs. I shudder as his voice wraps around me, as warm as the hand curving around my neck. He makes a low noise, and lifts me, until I'm sitting in the circle of his crossed legs. Pressed against him. I can feel his heartbeat through his shirt, the unsteady pounding. His fingers are still pressed against my hips, still holding onto me despite having me where he wants.
I should move back, put distance between us, so he knows that this isn’t ok. I sit still and silent in his arms and wait for the chiding voice, telling me it’s wrong.
The voice that has drown out every thought and feeling, every time a boy has touched me.
But it’s silent, oddly absent—maybe it is as charmed by Peter’s appearance as I am.
“What is Lane, to you?” he asks, breaking my thoughts.
I shrug, looking at the pulse point pounding in his throat. “A friend.”
“I don’t want you near him.” He says.
There is a part of me, slight but there, that is annoyed by his pronouncement. But the bigger part is smirking, leaning in so that my lips tickle along his neck. Peter goes very still, as I whisper, a hairs breath from his skin, “Are you jealous?”
His voice is low, gravelly, “Yes. Fuck, yes I am. I don’t want any man near you—I hate Micah for being your brother. I want you with me, always.”
His voice is so fierce, wild. It’s a savagery that is at odds with the soft circle of his arms, the gentle press of his fingers on my back.
That is all tenderness and fragile care.

Every sacrifice has consequences.

Sixteen-year-old Rowan has spent most of his life living among the mortals—learning to control the element of fire, impatiently awaiting the day his vengeful mother, Queen Prisma, will abdicate her throne. When he finally returns to Avalon for his coronation, his mother insists he must first prove his loyalty to the court by completing a secret mission:

Kill Kalin, the half-human, half-elemental daughter of the air court king.

Willing to do anything to remove his mother from power, he agrees to sacrifice the halfling. He returns to the mortal world with his best friend, Marcus, determined to kill the princess. But as he devises a plan, he starts to question whether or not he's capable of completing such a heinous task. And what price he will pay if he refuses?

Reviewed by Kelly.

The author was smart in putting out this free prequel novella. It sucks you in and leaves you wanting more. If there wasn’t a preview of the first chapter of the next book, I would have jumped off the cliff hanger!

We have the hero, sixteen year old Rowan. He is mature for his age. He is also heir to the fire elements throne in Avalon. His mother requests his presence from the mortal realm because he is to except his place. He is wary, because his mother is nothing more than a bully and has never had any love for her only biological child. She cares for the two adopted siblings of Rowan. Rowan knows there is something that his mother wants from him to give him the throne. He decides he will do whatever it takes to get her off the throne and have peace and not fear that now lives in the Fire area of Avalon.

He is right, she wants him to kill Kalin who is supposed to be a half breed now living in the mortal realm. His mother says she is a risk to all of Avalon. He doesn’t believe it and says he will do it. But Rowan is a good person and cannot do it! Instead, he becomes taken with her. When he returns with failure, his mother punishes him by having his best friend, a shifter, remove his wing which leaves him bleeding and could possibly be death. But his best friend takes him to the air throne where the King there, the father of the girl he was supposed to kill, can heal him. Rowan tells him everything.

The king talks with the council and leaves a death sentence on Rowan’s mother. She does die but not by guillotine as was ordered since her adopted children rescue her and Rowan ends up killing her instead.

Rowan is supposed to be king. But he abdicates it to his aunt because he knows that Kalin is in danger and since the king won’t listen to him, he will watch her himself until she is sixteen and ready to return to Avalon to take her place as Queen of the Air Realm.

But the end is a cliff hanger. Go get your copy and see what it is. It’s free. But beware; it will suck you in wanting more!

If you like mythology or Aprilynne Pike’s Wing’s series, heroism, good vs. evil, righteous heroes, sword play, paranormal, then this is for you.

What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

A Teaser...

Eirik was talking to Torin when we arrived at my house. While Eirik crossed over to our place, my eyes connected with Torin’s. There was a flash of something in his eyes. Anger? Grim determination? I wasn’t sure.

“Hey, what took you guys?” Eirik slipped his arms around my waist and kissed my temple.

Aware of both Torin and Cora watching us, I closed my eyes and tried to savor the feel of Eirik. I’d always loved the way he smelled. Now I craved a different scent. I imagined different arms holding me, different lips kissing me. My senses leaped at my thoughts and guilt followed.

Eirik turned me around, cupped my face, and kissed me. He angled his head and deepened the contact. I welcomed the invasion of his tongue and clung to him, desperately using him to erase Torin from my mind. It didn’t work. My body knew he was just a substitute. Instead of passion, I found comfort. Instead of heat, I got warmth.

Eirik eased off the kiss and looked over my shoulder. I knew then that he’d kissed me to warn Torin off or prove something. “Let’s go inside.”

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Flawless by Jennifer McGill-Sadera

Flawless
by Jennifer McGill-Sadera.
Audience/Genre: New Adult.
Publication: January 10th 2014 by Createspace.
Nobody's perfect. Except Lia Copeland. She's flawless. And worshipped. And hated. From her perfectly proportioned figure and enviable bone structure to her instinctual talent for clothing design and cavalier attitude, Lia's the woman every other woman wants to be and every man wants to have. Catapulted from sigh-maker in the high-school halls to superstardom in the fashion world, she makes it look easy. A girl like that has everything; every reason to be happy. Then why does Lia Copeland just want everyone to leave her the hell alone?
Behind the dazzling light of Lia's successes is a dark tale of fear, betrayal and confusion, leaving her with unfathomable anger--and so many questions. Chief among them: why is apathy threatening to take over her life? She forces herself to look to both inside and outside sources of the problem, leading her through a maze of emotions and relationships as she carries out her quest.
From the friends of Lia's youth--her best friend, Maddie, her tragic kinship with Doug, the tangled love triangle between her, Doug's cousin, Chad, and her pal, Wilson--to her later-day bond with her mentor, Jade, and therapist Ruth, Lia discovers the necessity of friendship and forgiveness.
A story about the choices made in the wake of travail and tragedy, it explores relationships with all their messy and marvelous moments and magnifies the beauty, wonder and endurance of first love.

Reviewed by Kelly.

This is a story of a girl and her friends. It’s how they go from high school and up to about 12 years later. It’s showing their growth, their loves, their weaknesses, grief, families and their bonds of friendship.

What I liked: I liked watching Lia go from a witch with a B to a grown woman and learn to face her demons head on. I liked the sessions she had with Ruth and how she overcame a memory that she repressed. I liked Wilson; he was the leader of the group and loyal. I liked that Doug really understood Lia. I liked Maddie; she grew up exactly as I guessed her to be.

What I didn’t like: I felt like the story was disconnected at times. I would skip parts because I didn’t feel like it pertained to the story or rather, I thought it was boring. I didn’t like the “darlings” endearment. It didn’t sound like someone in their twenties would say a lot. I didn’t like Lia in the beginning at all. There is a lot of sadness and grief in the story. There were other things that irritated me. Then in the end, I didn’t think it really gave me any clue what would happen with Lia and Chad. I literally threw my kindle when it got to the end and I tried looking back to find what did I miss that there was no real closure for me to find on them. So I disliked it more than I liked it. I read the story to see if Lia would grow and get her guy and be happy and I didn’t see it. Maybe I missed it, but anyway.

I don't like giving a less than great review. Maybe you will like it. It just wasn't for me. The reviews on goodreads are really good.

Hoping to take the magic of the island and move it to the mountains with the Abbot family, purveyors of the odd and hard to find relics of a time long gone by in small-town Vermont. Hope you'll come with me to the Green Mountains! Watch for the first book in the series in early 2014!

The family-run Green Mountain Country Store is cherished by locals as a reminder of simpler times. The Abbott children are determined to keep it that way—but their father has different plans…

When Cameron Murphy heads to Vermont to build a website for a new client, she imagines a more relaxing trip than she gets. After wrecking her car by colliding with the town moose, she meets the most handsome hero she’s ever seen. Unfortunately, her savior, Will Abbott, is also the son of her client—and he wants nothing to do with the new website or the city girl creating it.

For all Will cares, Cameron can march her fancy boots right out of town and out of his family’s business. But he can’t seem to get her out of his head. As his family’s dispute heats up, so does the chemistry between the two, leaving them wondering if simple is better after all—especially when it comes to matters of the heart

Reviewed by Kelly.

I needed something different to read. I wanted a little less drama but something sweet and fun and with lots of family. I was on Stuck on Book’s blog and she had read the book and liked it and it looked like just what I needed. So I bought it and it was- just what I needed! There is a LOT of family in this book. 10 kids in all. So, it looks like a start to a series that I will be clinging to.

We have Cameron who lives in New York. She is trying to make a life for herself and designs websites. Her father is a billionaire but she pretty much was raised by her nannies since her mother died. He doesn’t spend enough time with her or rather at all in my opinion. She was asked to come to Vermont by a man with ten kids known to Cameron’s father to develop a website for their amazing family business. It is really cool. I would love to be part of a family run business that makes real Vermont syrup, homemade jewelry has clothes and lots of other things but has been around since the depression and has helped other people.

The problem is that Landon Abbott did not tell his family he was doing this. So, as Cameron drives her new fancy car into snowy and muddy Vermont, she runs into the town moose “Fred”, who wrecks her car. There is no cell service and Cameron is stuck but rescued by Will Abbott, who isn’t very friendly to her , because he doesn’t want the website either, but finds an instant attraction to her at the same time.

Cameron becomes enamored by the Abbott family as she tries to sell them on her vision for their family’s store. Will also starts to spend more time with her and was taught well by his mother and treats her like she is a queen. Cameron starts to fall for Will too. But what will happen when she has to go back to New York?

I loved the story. It was sweet. I love stories with family in them. That’s what it’s all about in the end. I loved how the family dynamics were and how they get on each other’s nerves but still love and respect each other.

I am not into insta love but somehow this worked. The romance was so so sweet. I want me an Abbott too!! I can’t wait for the next book.
