This Summer & This Christmas (This Summer #1 & #1.5) by Katlyn Duncan

This Summer (This Summer #1)
by Katlyn Duncan.
Audience/Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance.
Publication: July 9th 2014 by Carina UK.
Before college, before responsibilities, Hadley Beauman and best friend Lily are determined to have a summer to remember. There will be all the usual dramas - ex-boyfriends who don't seem to know what 'ex' means, pesky younger brothers with unrequited crushes, but what Hadley didn't anticipate was the out-of-the-blue return of the seriously hot boy-next-door, Will Carson. The boy who broke her heart when he skipped town two years ago.

Will may have shot up a foot and filled out (oh yes), but inside he carries the weight of guilt - for leaving, for coming back... Now he's just passing through to tie up loose ends but it's clear the old chemistry still crackles between him and Hadley. Trouble is, it's built on two years of lies...

This summer might just be the best time of their lives, but is Hadley ready for everything to change - again?

This Summer is about Will and Hadley. Hadley has always loved her next door neighbor. He was her best friend. Then he was gone and her heart went with him. Hadley had a boyfriend, Carter, and she decided (although she says it was mutual) that they needed to break up because in the fall they would be going in different directions after the summer is over with College.

Will left and was totally embarrassed and didn’t say goodbye or tell anyone about his messed up family. His dad is in rehab. His mom dumped them both. Will is left being the responsible one and comes back to fix the house and sell it to pay for his father’s rehab. While there for the summer, he goes back to his summer job being a counselor where Hadley’s dad is the boss and pairs the two together for the tween age kids at the camp.

It’s obvious there is still chemistry between them. Both keep secrets though and make it difficult for either to move forward in any kind of relationship. This is where I was a little annoyed with Hadley. She has a great family and just seems a little selfish to me. Even her best friend gets annoyed with her because of it. Hadley is more me me me than really helping others. Maybe it’s just me. I liked Will and understood his situation and wanted him to be happy.
Anyway, as the summer goes on and Will and Hadley go hot and cold on each other, it boils down to who will make the first move.

The last part of the book, you know the part where they are together and then something really tests the relationship and they aren’t together and you try to figure out what will happen to put them back together. (This happens in most books) That was a bit of a twist and a shocker for me.

Anyway, I am now off to read This Christmas to see what will become of them at Christmas!

In this light hearted and festive sequel to THIS SUMMER, Hadley and Will rekindle their relationship against the sparkling winter backdrop of upstate New York. This is a must read for fans of HOPELESS by Colleen Hoover.

This Christmas (This Summer #1.5)
by Katlyn Duncan.
Audience/Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance.
Publication: November 18th 2014 by Carina UK.
This year, if Hadley wrote her dream Christmas list, it would go something like this:

1. Spend every waking – and sleeping – moment with her incredibly gorgeous boyfriend, Will.

2. Figure out what’s been bugging him lately. Yes, going away to college has been tough…but it’s time they reconnected.

3. Enjoy a sparkling Christmas in New York City, gazing at the Rockefeller tree, going ice skating, and drinking steaming mugs of cocoa in Central Park.

So, driving off to spend Christmas in a rustic cabin in the woods wasn’t exactly the plan. But when it comes to her irresistible, and at times, impossible boyfriend, nothing’s ever that simple. And as fantasies of an icy Times Square are replaced by a clumsily decorated tree, making snowmen and the warmth of a log fire, Hadley feels herself falling in love all over again.

Except does Will have something to tell her that could change Hadley’s happily-ever-after Christmas dreams into a not-so-winter wonderland after all?

Don't miss this festive sequel novella to This Summer

This book follows Will and Hadley after they both go to New York. This semester has been so busy that Hadley and Will haven’t seen each other much. Or should I say they haven’t made time for each other with their busy schedules. Will has also been a little on the quiet side and something is bothering him.So when Hadley finds a girl in Will’s apartment, things need to change. The girl is Will’s stepsister and she recommends they go to the family’s cabin for Christmas.

The cabin sounds so cozy in the book; I wished I could be there too! There is snow, real Christmas trees, music, pine cones, baking and a funny turkey cooking story as well. It is just the right amount of cozy and alone time and time for them to talk, play and reminisce their childhood Christmases.

You really should read This Summer first to understand somethings about Will and his family dynamics. His growing up years made him a little Scrooge like. Hadley is determined to fix that!

This is a short and sweet story with some real talk about making things work and compromising in relationships and of course one on one time all couples need.
