“Mortal Enchantment spins a unique twist on elemental mythology. This series is not to be missed.”
Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author
In Kalin Matthew's world, elementals control the forces of nature. They are divided into four courts: air, woodland, fire, and water. At sixteen she will leave the life she's built with her mortal mother. Kalin will move to Avalon to rule with her father—the elemental king of the air court. Along the way, she's attacked by a fire court assassin and saved by Rowan, a swoon-worthy elemental with a questionable past.
Worst of all, she learns her father is missing.
To rescue him, Kalin will have to work with a judgmental council and a system of courts too busy accusing each other of deceit to actually be able to help her. But, they aren’t her biggest challenge. With the Midwinter’s Ball only five days away, Kalin must take over her father’s duties, which includes shifting control of the elements—power Kalin has yet to realize.
As Rowan attempts to train her, a war looms between the four courts. If Kalin fails, her father will die and the courts will fall, but the betrayal she’s about to uncover may cost her even more...

I was captured from the very beginning with the flowing of the words, I felt as if I were there and totally enchanted! The moment you start reading, Stacey O’Neale weaves a tale in the world of Avalon. The descriptions of the land is so vivid, the creatures so beautiful and amazing. The story folding easily before you and you are there!
Kalin comes to Avalon at 16 from the mortal world to live with her father the King of the air court. She had lived with her mother up until then knowing that at 16 she would go to learn her powers and take up her position as the Princess of the air court. But before she even gets close to where she is to meet her knights to take her, she is attacked. Rowan is there to protect her and he ushers her to her father’s home. Kalin doesn’t even know Rowan or what has happened with Rowan or why her father is suddenly missing. She doesn’t know what to do or who to trust and she makes mistake after mistake in a world she knows little about. But one thing is for sure, there is something stirring between her and Rowan. But she isn’t sure she can trust him. Rowan is there for her every time she needs him. She trains with him for her powers even though Rowan is a deserter from the fire court. Rowan is always vague or doesn’t answer Kalin’s questions.
The story is fast paced as time runs out to find her father and protect her court and Avalon. With Rowan and Ariel as her companions, she trudges forward to find the truth of what is going on? The answers can prove very deadly.
That is all I want to say, this is a relatively short book and easy to read and delightful! The chemistry between Kalin and Rowan is quite humorous at times and electric at others.
Oh and by the way, this book ends in a cliffhanger. Gah!
So if you like fantasy, beautiful and exotic locations, finding maybe forbidden love, betrayal, some “I did not see that coming”, mystery, sword fighting, learning to find your own powers and determined to do so no matter what, war in an enchanted world and family then this book might be for you!
