Meant to be Mine (A Porter Family Novel #2)
by Becky Wade.
Audience/Genre: Contemporary Romance, Clean Read.
Publication: May 2014 by Bethany House Publishers.
Ty Porter has always been irresistible to Celia Park. All through high school--irresistible. When their paths cross again after college--still irresistible. This time, though, Ty feels exactly the same way about Celia. Their whirlwind romance deposits them at a street-corner Las Vegas wedding chapel.

The next morning they wake to a marriage certificate and a dose of cold reality. Celia's ready to be Ty's wife, but Ty's not ready to be anybody's husband. As a professional bull rider, he lives on the road and can't bring himself to settle down.

Five and a half years pass. Celia's buried her dreams so that she can afford to raise her daughter. Ty's achieved all of his goals. Or thought he had, until he looks again into the face of the one woman he couldn't forget and into the face of the child he never knew he had.

How much will Ty sacrifice to make Celia's dreams come true, to win her trust, and to prove to her that their spontaneous marriage can still become the love of a lifetime?

Reviewed by Kelly.

I am so glad that I read this. It delved deeper into all aspects of relationships with their sacrifices and trust issues. It was an eye opener for me. I definitely will be reading the rest of the series.

After a spur of the moment marriage and left with a runaway groom; Celia is left with a broken heart. She finds herself closing off the world to protect her heart from further damage where trust and love are concerned and learns to raise their daughter on her own with only the help of her “surfer dude” uncle. See, Ty told Celia he had someone waiting for him back home. And Celia carried on with life and never looked for Ty to tell him he had a daughter.

Celia once had dreams of owning a bakery shop and baking. But now she sacrificed that to take care of her daughter and works behind the scenes of a cafeteria.

Ty has felt horrible ever since he left Celia high and dry the morning after they got married in Vegas on a whim. He has been utterly successful as a bull rider and in money investments. He goes to see Celia, to ask forgiveness. There he finds he has a child. He is a little upset with her for not telling him. Celia isn’t sure about him. But he forgives her for not telling him he had a child. He tells Addie, their child, what he does for a living and that he will call her every night while away. Celia doubts he will keep his word. But, Ty faithfully calls every night. Celia notices that but still keeps him at arm’s length. She isn’t sure she can trust him.

Ty wants them to move to his town in Texas. He already bought her a car when he found out they were riding a bus because she couldn’t afford to get her car repaired. With Addie’s prodding and her uncle’s desire to move wherever she goes, she agrees. He bought her a home. Addie didn’t like that either. When she couldn’t get the job that is close to her dreams because it paid horribly, Ty talks to the owner and secretly doubles the amount she makes so she could have her dreams. Ty gets Addie a pony and adores his child.

But, Celia still can’t trust or forgive him. When Tawny, the other girl that Ty mentioned that was waiting at home, shows up Celia has some jealousy. Celia doesn’t want to trust Ty, but Ty relentlessly pursues Celia and kisses her. Celia doesn’t know how she feels, she is torn between her attraction to him and what would happen if he were to break her heart again and how that would affect Addie.

But for every two steps forward there is one step back in their relationship. There are many twists, turns and hurt, sacrifice and forgiveness, and a very loving family too. It also makes you think about your own relationships and forgiveness and sacrifices. There are questions at the end for you to think about. This is a clean romance.

I didn't read the first book and had no trouble keeping up. But, I will go back and read the first book.

The only thing that drove me were the arc errors. I know that they aren’t polished but every word with an ff in it the ff was missing. I never knew there were so many words with ff in them!! I had to figure the word out sometimes.

During her childhood in California, Becky frequently produced homemade plays starring her sisters, friends, and cousins. These plays almost always featured a heroine, a prince, and a love story with a happy ending. She's been a fan of all things romantic ever since.
Becky and her husband lived overseas in the Caribbean and Australia before settling in Dallas, Texas. It was during her years abroad that Becky's passion for reading turned into a passion for writing. She published three historical romances with Avon Books, then put her career on hold for several years to care for her three kids, then recently returned to writing sheerly for the love of it. She felt led to move to the genre of contemporary Christian romance and couldn’t be more thrilled with it.
These days Becky can be found failing but trying to keep up with her housework, sweating at the gym, carting her kids around town, playing tennis, hunched over her computer, eating chocolate, or collapsed on the sofa watching TV with her husband.
