Web of Lies (The Red Ridge Pack # 3)
by Sara Dailey and Staci Weber.
Audience/Genre: Paranormal Romance.
Publication: November 25th 2013 by Boroughs Publishing Group.
In the midst of a struggle for control of his pack, eighteen-year-old werewolf enforcer-to-be Luke Stanton meets the one girl who will destroy everything…or complete him.

Eighteen-year-old Luke Stanton is focused, strong, and intimidating as hell. He has to be. As the future enforcer of Red Ridge, it will be his job to keep the other weres in line. So avoiding close friendships, pack drama, and especially pack females is in his best interest. He witnessed firsthand what love did to his father, so casual human hookups are enough.

Then she arrives: Scarlett Reed. She arouses something primal in him, something undeniable. But just as Luke gives himself permission to finally experience something real, the truth bursts free. The were beauty is harboring a secret so devastating it has the power to destroy him. At the same time, the pack is splintering over a battle for leadership, and Luke’s strength is needed more than ever. It is a time of upheaval, of the destructive power of lies. Everything he thought to protect is in danger: his family, his friends…and most of all, his heart

I wish I had time to have read the first two in the series before starting this one. It made it a little slow at first for me, but then I got right into it and I enjoyed it.

What I liked: I really like shifter stories. I suppose it is the mate for life thing that grabs me. I will have to go back and read the other two stories. I also like that packs work together. I definitely don’t like bad packs. The one in the book was bad and I Like good vs. evil and the two packs were definitely that.

I liked watching Scarlett’s dilemma. She is from the bad pack and she comes to the Red Ridge pack with her father and her “brother” (who is another pack member pretending to be her brother) intent on taking over Red Ridge pack. She is supposed to lure Luke in any way possible. Basically, her father has her here to whore her out. Sick father she has. But she finds she really likes Luke. Then she doesn’t want anything to do with this plan because she likes him. But she is stuck doing what her father and “brother” want her to do or else! The “or else” you will have to read about. She knows when Luke finds out about her he will never forgive her. She is torn and doesn’t know what to do.

I liked the mystery of everyone trying to figure things out in the story. But near the end there is another curve ball that came out of left field and throws everything off track. I said “What?”, when I read it. I had to read it twice. The end is a cliffhanger.

What I didn’t like: I liked Luke. I just didn’t feel his change in himself towards liking just one girl, Scarlett. Don’t get me wrong, Scarlett and Luke have chemistry. It was something I wanted to see in Luke. Just my own personal rambling.

I didn’t like Drew, the “brother”. He disgusts me. But that is the point, so I liked it too! Ha ha!

What I thought: Overall, it was a great story, but I have to wait until the next one comes out to get my fix of the Red Ridge pack and what will happen next. There is family in abundance here, forgiveness, second chances, abuse, werewolves galore and a good plot too!!
