All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

This is a teaser from Jennifer's blog:

“You have no idea…” I ran out of words at that point. Her being this close after so long was the sweetest kind of torture. Each breath she took, I felt in every part of my body, in some areas more than others. Really inappropriate, but she always had a powerful hold over me. Common sense jumped out the window.

I am so excited for this book. I love this series. I love the cover! It is the best cover yet. I am like a giddy child! Just jumping up and down.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that showcases upcoming releases that we are excited about.

Working It Out by Rachael Renee Anderson

Working It Out by Rachael Renee Anderson.
Audience/Genre: Contemporary Romance.
Publication: July 15th 2013 by HEA Publishing.
A chance encounter . . .
Grace Warren's life is safe and predictable—exactly the way she likes it. But when she gets roped into going to an auction to help out a friend, everything changes. She meets Seth Tuttle—a guy who unexpectedly kisses her then disappears, leaving her flustered and upset. If she never sees him again, it will be too soon.

A chance for love . . .
Weeks later, when Seth limps into Grace's rehab clinic post surgery, he's every bit as frustrating and annoying as she remembered. Yet there's something about him that makes her second-guess her carefully placed boundaries even though he's everything she's sure she doesn't want in a man. But maybe Seth is exactly what Grace has needed all along—assuming she's willing to risk safe and predictable for a chance at love.

Reviewed by Kelly.

I loved this cute and clean romance. It was sweet. It also had elements that challenged you to think.

Grace is a hard working Physical Therapist. She is really good at what she does. She gets charged with helping a wealthy extreme sports bachelor, Seth, rehab after a sports accident. Where Grace is all professional and a no dating patient policy; Seth is let’s have fun at whatever comes my way mentality. They clash but still find themselves attracted to each other.

Grace’s brother, Alex, was in a skiing accident 10 years ago and has been a paraplegic ever since. She blames herself.

Seth’s best friend died of Cancer and asked Seth to take care of his sister Lanna. Seth takes life to its fullest because you never know when you will die and it keeps his best friend alive somehow.

Putting those two people together with their situations can be frustrating and downright funny. I love the humor and wit. I love the flirting. This could so be a movie. Definitely a romantic comedy! I would so go!!

For me, I tend to be like Grace. My hubby was in a motor cycle accident after we were married. He isn’t the same person. His leg is bent, yet it doesn’t stop him from trying. He doesn’t remember any of it. I worry when he is out that he may not come home or worse. But after years, you just have to keep moving and accept every day as a blessing and then the day after that too. So when I read this book, I loved it for placing humor on something so serious. Because you have to sometimes. You have to find compromises and you have to keep moving.

I recommend this to anyone wanting to find a clean and sweet romantic book.

I liked this quote from the book, so true:
Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere.

Silent Deceit (Black Force Renegades .5)
by Kallie Lane.
Audience/Genre: Suspense, Romance.
Publication: April 30th 2013 by Self Published.
A stand-alone novella (24,000 words) in the Black Force Renegades series!

When undercover cop Natasha Roberts sets out on her own to find her missing brother, the trail leads to a biker bar where one false move will get her killed. Skip McQuade doesn't like her chances for survival, and forces her to trust him. Together they continue the search while fighting the passion between them. Will they find her brother and stop a killer in time?

Reviewed by Kelly.

This is, I guess, a novella to introduce us to the world that belongs to the Black Force Renegades. We get introduced to cops long undercover. Skip and Natasha have known each other for a long time. Natasha just didn’t know that Skip was also undercover until just now. Her boss, Blue, just informed her after finding her going rogue undercover to find her corrupt brother. Natasha’s brother went missing after talking to her one night, she still loves him, knowing that he was in deep manure. Blue is mad at Natasha and tells her she can stay on the case but she is not in charge anymore.

This isn’t just some ordinary undercover op. This place has gangs and everything illegal you can imagine. Natasha works as a bartender for Deuce. Deuce’s place is neutral ground for anyone coming in. One wrong move and you could end up dead.

Deuce's place gets wrecked by a tree from a storm. This is their chance to find out what is going on. There is nonstop action to find Natasha's brother and evidence to put Deuce away.

Skip and Natasha have liked each other for a long time. That is a problem for me because maybe they knew each other before, but I didn’t feel it. It just seemed like instalove and I can’t wait to get in your pants. Sorry, just not feeling it.

So as much as the action and mystery involved in the set up to a series was good, it was just ok for me.

This is currently free for Kindle on Amazon.

Uncharted: An On the Island Novella by Tracey Garvis-Graves

Uncharted (On the Island #1.5)
byTracey Garvis-Graves.
Audience/Genre: Contemporary Romance.
Publication: July 2nd 2013 by Penguin.
Tracey Garvis Graves - and Anna and T.J. - return in this companion novella to the New York Times bestseller On the Island

When twenty-three-year-old dot-com millionaire Owen Sparks walked away from his charmed life, he had one goal in mind: get as far away as possible from the people who resented his success, or had their hand out for a piece of it. A remote uncharted island halfway around the world seemed like a perfectly logical place to get away from it all.

Calia Reed wasn't part of Owen's plans. The beautiful British girl - on holiday in the Maldives with her brother, James - made Owen wonder if getting away from it all might be a lot more enjoyable with a carefree girl who didn't know anything about the life he left behind.

But Owen had no idea how much his carefully detailed plans would go awry. Nor did he realize that a decision he made would have such a catastrophic effect on two passengers who boarded a plane in Chicago.

And when Owen shows up at Anna and T.J.'s door with an incredible story to tell, everyone involved will learn just how much their lives are intertwined.

Uncharted includes an early look at Covet, coming September 2013.

Reviewed by Kelly.

This was a nice follow up and wrap up to questions from On The Island. It was a tear jerker so have some Kleenex handy. If you haven’t read On The Island, you should because it was wonderful and has been optioned for a movie by MGM.

This novella follows Owen Sparks as he comes to see Anna and TJ and retells his story of being on the island. Because if you read the first book, there was someone who was on the island before Anna and TJ and had left things there that ultimately helped save their lives. This person was Owen. He was a millionaire in his early twenties and was not happy with his situation in life and his unloving and ungrateful family. So he goes to the island to try to figure out what he wants to do with his life.

He has the pilot Captain Mick Forrester to bring him there and bring him supplies every month and/or go there himself for a day. After a year of being there he meets a sister and brother, Calia and James, who decide to come to the island and have an adventure; to see a shark up close, to ride with the dolphins and see the beautiful island.

Calia and Owen have a love story of their own there. James wants to see a shark up close and is determined to do so. They learn about living with storms and rats, bats, spiders and lots of fish and sand. They learn about each other’s families. James and Calia tell Owen of their plans for their life. Calia is going to volunteer in Africa and James is going to the Uni back home. Things seem so happy, but for how long.

Owen continues to share his story with TJ and Anna. They learn about the bones they found in the cave. TJ and Anna feel for Owen. But Owen has a confession to make to them and he worries what they will think once he tells them. But you will have to read the book to find out what the confession is and what they think about it.

I loved the flow of the story. It was so easy to read and so emotional. I felt Owen’s pain at all he experienced and admired him for going to see Anna and TJ to tell them what he felt he needed to. I loved reconnecting with Anna and TJ. I was glad to have answers to some of the things on the island. I loved Owen’s story. It was raw and heartbreaking. I can’t wait to see what Ms Garvis-Graves comes up with next!

Strength (Mark of Nexus#1) by Carrie Butler

Strength (Mark of Nexus #1) by Carrie Butler.
Audience/Genre: Upper YA/New Adult, Paranormal Romance.
Publication: March 7th 2013 by Sapphire Star Publishing (first published March 5th 2013).
When college student Rena Collins finds herself nose-to-chest with the campus outcast, her rumor-laced notions are shattered. Handsome, considerate, and seemingly sane, Wallace Blake doesn’t look like he spends his nights alone, screaming and banging on the walls of his dorm room. Hell, he doesn’t look like he spends his nights alone, period.

Too curious for her own good, Rena vows to uncover the truth behind Wallace’s madman reputation--and how two seconds of contact had left her with bruises. Of course, there are a few setbacks along the way: guilt, admiration, feelings of the warm and fuzzy variety…

Not to mention the unwanted attention of Wallace's powerful, supernaturally-gifted family.

They’re a bloodline divided by opposing ideals, two soon-to-be warring factions that live in secret among us. When Rena ends up caught in their crossfire, Wallace has no choice but to save her by using his powers. Now they’re really in trouble. With war on the horizon and Rena’s life in the balance, he needs to put some distance between them. But Rena won’t let go. If fighting is what it takes to prove her own strength and keep Wallace in her life, then that’s what she’ll do--even if it means risking a whole lot more than her heart.

Reviewed by Kelly.

This book had me at the beginning. Rena is creeping in the 7th floor hallway to get to her friend’s dorm room, trying to avoid the “madman”. She unwittingly runs right into him. He catches her to avoid her falling. She doesn’t realize that he is the supposed crazy guy. He leaves handprints on her arms where he caught her. She is totally taken with him and goes to debunk the “madman” theory. By so doing, she starts to fall for him and he for her.

But, Aiden, her friend and his dorm mate, isn’t so sure. He wants to know about the bruises. Rena is mortified that maybe she had a hand in everyone believing the theories. After all she heard it from Aiden and talked about it with others.

Gabby, Rena’s roommate, is too busy with any guy she can get her hands on too pay too much attention. But when Rena and Wallace (the supposed crazy guy) start becoming close, Gabby wants to know more. Then there is this guy in one of Rena’s classes, Maverick, who nudges his way into their lives and becomes one of Gabby’s personal play toys. Rena isn’t impressed with him. Gabby is usually a one night stand girl.

As Rena and Wallace become closer and Rena spills secrets from her past, she wants to know about him. She learns he has a twin brother, Cole, and they don’t get along well. Wallace tells Rena to leave him and his brother’s relationship alone. She runs into them arguing and decides to have an intervention to bring them together. Well, Cole put his number into her pocket so why wouldn’t she help, because she thinks he wants it. Thing is this is where Rena is really stupid. She drives several hours away to see Cole and ends up in a not so good situation. Why would anyone drive far away and not tell anyone where you are when you don’t even know the guy yourself. Stupid, stupid, stupid!! I wanted to throw my kindle across the room; I was so frustrated with her. So Rena finds herself injected with something to knock her out and then awakens handcuffed to a bed. Cole said he needs his brother’s help and she was leverage. Cole cuts her, takes a picture, and then cleans the wound and sends the picture to his brother. He also moved really fast in the room. Too fast for Rena to keep up with. Hmm... Not too long after that, in fact not enough time to have even driven hours to get there, Wallace knocks down the wall to get to her. He breaks the handcuffs with his bare hands and frees her and tosses his brother across the room and Cole crashes into the wall. What the????

After that, Rena finds herself in a whole new world and no way to turn back. Not that she wants too. After all, Wallace is this really good looking hunk of a guy. And tall too!! And has really nice manners. He is considerate, sweet and chivalric. Gee, there is nothing at all wrong with him. Wallace is my kind of perfect man. Except, he has one secret.

Cole and Wallace make up and even Rena starts to warm up to Cole, a little. Why would anyone do that you ask? Well you will have to read it to find out.

Rena meets Wallace’s grandmother. I love that woman! She is so funny, grandmotherly and downright loveable. I was cracking up at her. She loves her grandsons and only wants them to be good and happy.

After that, all hell breaks loose and it is nonstop action. I was so caught up in certain things that I didn’t see some of it coming. Stupid me! I was on the edge of my seat as there is a supernatural war about to start and Rena is smack dab in the middle of it! Rena makes a deal in the end, without that deal, something bad would have happened. She had no choice. And she really kicked butt in the end too!

The ending was perfect and funny.

I love Wallace and Rena. (I know I go back and forth with past and present tense, I still love them not just while reading) She’s all spunk and he’s pure in heart and they compliment and need each other. There romance is slow and sweet.

The other characters are great and some threw me for a loop. There is so much more to the book. I just don’t want to give it away. I read it through the night and fell asleep then woke up and finished it an hour later. Yep, that good!

I love the tattoos or Mark of Nexus too, but you have to read it to find out about that. It is part of the fun of the book, ya know; to throw out little teasers to get you wanting to read it too! I am mean, I know, but it was really good. The title is perfect for this book. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Reviewed by Kelly.

Really, Really?? Did she just leave it off like that?!? Dang, I am still in shock. Really, that was not a nice ending. I have to wait until the next book to find out what will happen. She just pulled my heart strings thinking all will be well and then out of nowhere, something happens and the end! UGH! Not nice, that was not nice at all Megan Smith.

This book has me grateful that I was the oldest and my brother was much younger than me, because I could not put up with their crap if I had brothers that were that protective. But Kenzie is the youngest of four children and the only girl. Her dad taught her brothers to be protective of her and they took their job very literally.

We see glimpses of Kenzie’s earlier life when she first meets Hunter, her brothers’ best friend, and with Hailey, her best friend. They give us a little insight to how Kenzie feels about Hunter. We also get a little glimpse that Hunter feels something for Kenzie too. It all started with kissing in the rain! But Hunter chooses to remain friends with her brothers so keeps her at bay, but Dang, that boy flirts with her a little more than a friend should. It just makes things harder for both of them.

Kenzie decides that even though she dreams of Hunter every night and loves him from afar that she is going to have to keep moving. So Dominic comes into the picture. He is on the football team and he seems to make her happy for now. Dominic also doesn’t put up with her brothers and they come to heads about it a few times.

Then college starts and Kenzie and Hailey go to school where Dominic will be. But Hunter also goes there; her brothers don’t, and they tell Hunter to watch out for Kenzie. Hunter doesn’t like Dominic. Neither did I, once they get to college. I didn’t trust that boy. Dominic and Kenzie have a rocky relationship due to this possible other girl. But Kenzie keeps giving Dominic the benefit of the doubt. Hunter is still flirting away with her and they know how each other feels but Hunter won’t act on it because of her brothers. Dumb girl!Dumb boy!

Hunter is there when things go south. He is sweet to her and never pushes her to do anything and won’t allow them to go past certain points. He says that she isn’t ready. He is so sweet. That guy thinks with his heart. He is definitely a book boyfriend for me. When he does tell her he loves her, it is perfect!

Dominic doesn’t let go easily. Kenzie’s brothers and Hunter beat the crap out of him a couple of times. Oh my gosh! But Hunter also has a hard time deciding who to choose and messes up with Kenzie. Her brothers were even madder about that. Mason is the angriest brother; he doesn’t want Kenzie to have anything to do with Hunter.

There is a lot of trial and error. A lot of hiding and secrets and just when you think that all is settling down; there is something else that happens to shatter that and then again they work through that; and again bam something else happens and end of story. Wait for book two! Gah!

Something that kind of bugs me is the cover. If you look really close it looks like hairy legs. Just sayin...

41/2 stars; I purchased this book. Look for the cover reveal to Easy To Love You (Love #2) next.

It all started with kissing in the rain. Yep, that Hot!

Cover Re- Reveal - A Love By Any Measure by Killian McRae

A Love by any Measure by Killian McRae.
Audience/Genre: Historical Fiction, Romance, Adult.
Publication: November 8th 2011 by Tulipe Noire Press (first published October 2011).
An Irish lass. An English lord.
A love that overcomes all boundaries, but at what cost?

Lord August Grayson, English landlord, has secretly, and much to the dismay of his father, held in reverence the object of his first fancy: poor Irish tenant Maeve O'Connor. Returning to Ireland for the first time since his youth, August discovers that Maeve has grown into a woman of beauty and tenacity. He understands, however, that he could offer Maeve nothing but shame if her pursued her. But when circumstances allow him an opportunity to indulge his fancy, even if only in a limited scope, August finds himself unable to resist the temptation.

Maeve, for her part, knows the danger falling for August holds, but finds her heart and her good senses becoming confused the longer she spends in his company. As two hearts become hopelessly entangled, both Maeve and August are forced to question the costs of their love. As consequences of their romance manifest, both struggle with the pain and difficulties their love causes, both for themselves and those who care for them.

Killian McRae's delve into historical romance will challenge reader's presumptions of the genre. A title garnering controversy due to McRae's preference towards historical truth versus genre-standard "love despite the realities of the day" perspectives, it asks at what cost winning love is justified. "A Love by Any Measure" is an exploration of a romance that strives to overcome divisions of cultural, socio-economic, and religious differences in an era where options for lovers in such situations were limited.

This is the New Cover - What do you think?.

Reviewed by Kelly in April 2012.

Oh My Word!! This book was amazing! I love a book that can make you feel joy, heartache, sorrow and finding the meaning of love and all of its' sacrifices!

This is definitely an adult book. At first, I wasn't sure about continuing to read it or not because of the graphic sex. Not something I would recommend to many of my friends because of it.

I love the time period in the late 1800's in Ireland. Maeve has little to nothing except her home with her father on an Englishman's land. That englishman was once a childhood friend of Maeve and this is their story of finding love and showing the world how much you would sacrifice and what heartache comes with it.

I don't know what I would have done in Maeve's shoes. She is a strong woman, who is honest! She loves her often drunk Da!

I can't describe the book just the gammet of emotions I had overwhelmed me at times and I found myself tearing up and feeling her pain often, I found myself hating and loving August. What hardships this time period faced with their stations in life and being with who you are supposed or arranged to be with instead of who you love. And what it means to be family!

I am still thinking about it now and haven't been able to pick up another book to start yet.

)

That was my review in 2012. I just said on a recent post that there was only one other author who could make me feel strong emotions. I was wrong. This is one of my all time favorite books and I definitely felt all kind of emotions as if they were mine and not a character in a book.

So, what do you think of the new cover????

Kate Worthington knows her heart and she knows she will never marry. Her plan is to travel to India instead—if only to find peace for her restless spirit and to escape the family she abhors. But Kate’s meddlesome mother has other plans. She makes a bargain with Kate: India, yes, but only after Kate has secured—and rejected—three marriage proposals.

Kate journeys to the stately manor of Blackmoore determined to fulfill her end of the bargain and enlists the help of her dearest childhood friend, Henry Delafield. But when it comes to matters of love, bargains are meaningless and plans are changeable. There on the wild lands of Blackmoore, Kate must face the truth that has kept her heart captive. Will the proposal she is determined to reject actually be the one thing that will set her heart free?

Set in Northern England in 1820, Blackmoore is a Regency romance that tells the story of a young woman struggling to learn how to follow her heart. It is Wuthering Heights meets Little Women with a delicious must-read twist

Reviewed by Kelly.

Oh my Gosh! Where to even begin. I cried and felt despair at Kate’s life. There seems only to be sadness and resignation in what her life had become. I found myself sobbing many times for her. I would have just run away very early on if I were in her shoes.

Kate has always wanted to go to Blackmoore. Her beloved Henry, the boy next door and her best friend, had invited her to go. Then her mother had other plans for Kitty. Kate had been called Kitty all her life but something happened and she never wanted to be called Kitty again. Kate’s mother was a flirt. Kate’s sisters weren’t much better. Kate was not like them but scandal follows the name, so Kate is always humiliated by them. Kate’s father just sits and does nothing and Kate isn’t really loved by her family. Kate has also been saying she will never marry for the past year and ½. She hasn’t told anyone why. Kate has always loved Henry from afar, but has stayed always out of reach. Again, no one but Kate knows why.

Kate’s mother wants her to marry a gentleman who seems to be aging and diseased. Because Kate wanted to desperately go to Blackmoore, she makes a bargain with her mother. She can go to Blackmoore, not marry this man, and go to India with her aunt if she gets 3 marriage proposals and refuses all of them. If not, she is to do whatever her mother asks of her. Sick, I know. Who would do that to her own daughter? But Kate thinks she has it in the hat when she agrees to it. But nothing goes as plans and Kate is faced with one thing after another of humiliation, shame, heartbreak, and enduring more than anyone should.

Kate and Henry become closer and closer but also things start to come to light and Henry learns the why’s to things that have made them also become out of reach of each other. For Henry has been intended to Miss St Clair. Kate wants to like her, but can’t seem to. And why should she? She loves Henry but she constantly pushes him away.

Meanwhile, Kate has an admirer. a mother who is a flirt, a sister who is scandalous, the mother of Henry who lets her know she is unwanted in her home, a woman who is soon to be betrothed to Henry who wants to make it clear to Kate that she has Henry. Henry doesn’t understand what is going on and tries to get Kate to talk.

This is a wonderful clean and romantic read. I loved it immensely and would recommend it to everyone. Anyone, who loves Jane Austen will love this. It has some elements of Pride and Prejudice. I will be buying this book the day it comes out and will read it over and over in the years to come. It is timeless! It is a classic. You will not be disappointed.

Excerpt:

If only I were open to the possibility of romance, but I’m not. There’s no way I can be. There are circumstances that can’t be wished away or ignored. My heart’s not ready—not yet. And while this absolutely gorgeous girl has wandered into my life, I’m not going to act on it. It’s too soon.

I stride into my shop, gently placing her on the counter. Her feet are bleeding and she looks like she could use a drink of water. She’s covered in dust from the road but she looks adorable sitting there. I don’t know what it’s like to be in a scenario like this with a girl. I’m used to things being straightforward and laid out before me. This looks like something I could get easily lost in if I’m not careful.

We still haven’t said a word to each other, and I hate to break the silence but it can’t be avoided. “Rest here a minute. I’ll be right back.”

Her hand lingers on my upper arm, her thumb massaging by bicep. I exhale heavily, trying desperately to clear my head. Her touch is stirring things inside me I haven’t experienced in quite some time. Emotions I never thought I’d feel again. “Thank you,” she whispers, her eyes never leaving mine.

“No problem,” I try to say as casually as possible. She’s looking at me like I’m her knight in shining armor and I don’t want her to get the wrong idea. I can’t go down that road again. I just can’t. My soul still isn’t fully healed from the last time. I can’t trust myself in these kinds of situations. I need to back away as gracefully as I can.

Why I Read This: I read this book because I had won the first book and what totally caught up in the writing. I said in the first book thatif someone had propositioned me like that I would have bolted and I am not crazy about the F bomb being part of Jack Henry's every day vocabulary. But the writing sucked me in and I was caught up in their story. I wanted to see what happened next. If you haven't read the first book don't read the review because it has spoilers. This isn't a book I would have picked up on my own but I love how the author could make me feel things. This book is for adults only and has graphic sex scenes and language.

What I Loved: I loved that the author could make me feel like it wasme feeling the sadness, hurt and betrayal. I literally found myself skimming words because I wanted to know what was happening when they
first found each other again. It was a crazy scene and my heart was beating fast, literally! Then later, something came to light and it was very hurtful and I felt like it was me that was hurting and I already knew about it before the character did. I mean, who writes like that?? That you feel like it was you in pain!!! If someone can make me cry, or
feel pain, betrayal, hurt or sadness they get 5 stars regardless of the rest of the content. I was screaming "No No, No, this can be happening”; I was that hooked. I can't really describe it. Only one other author has been able to make me feel like that while reading. I can't tell you about the scenes in this book because I want you to experience it for
yourself.

I love books where the family is involved and there are children running around and the family is a part of the story. Jack Henry's mom is strong and doesn't put up with the things she learned about him. I love the bonding time Jack Henry has with his brother.

I love when there are obstacles to overcome, stupid or not. It shows growth. And there were things to overcome in this book.

I loved how Jack Henry saved the day when Laurelyn was being assaulted. Again, can't tell you any more about it, you gotta read and experience the scene yourself.

What I Didn't Like: I don't like the F word, it's not me. But it is
certainly part of Jack Henry! That's what you get in NA books. So it's
my own fault for reading it! LOL

There was a lot of sex; A LOT. Like every other page.

So, why did I read it if I didn't like the last two major points below? Because Ms. Cates
is an incredible writer and I will be looking for more of her books.

Angels Of The Knights - Fallon (Angels of the Knights #1)

Angels of the Knights - Fallon (Angels of the Knights #1)
by Valerie Zambito.
Audience/Genre: Paranormal,YA,Romance,Clean Read.
Publication:June 27th 2012 by Valerie Zambito.
When Fallon Angell died at the age of sixteen, her life changed forever.

The hallowed world of Emperica is everything she had ever hoped for as a mortal—immeasurable beauty, unconditional love and light. But, with affection for humankind still burning within her, she joins the Knight Caste to train as an angel warrior. As a Knight, she will give up her wings and return to the place that killed her to use her unique powers to search out and destroy the evil Kjin that roam the earth. As a Knight, she will stop at nothing to protect the mortals in her care.

The elders warn her that the path she chose will be a solitary one. That she will not have the same bond with humans as she once did. But, as far as she knows, the elders had never met Kade Royce.

When her duties place her in the path of this handsome former cop, emotions buried long ago rise to the surface and she is powerless to ignore the depth of her feelings for this young man. She knows instinctively that she has found what most people search their entire lives for.

Ignoring the risks, she invites him into her world of danger, but soon their lives collide with explosive consequence. As a result, Fallon realizes with heartbreaking despair that she can no longer hide from the painful truth. In order for Kade to live, she must destroy him.

Reviewed by Kelly.

I have had this book for a while sitting on my desk and decided I needed to pick it up. It was an easy couple hours of reading.

This story is a little bit of a twist on Heaven and Hell, angels and demons and the fight for good!

We start off with the death of Fallon in 1978 at the age of 16 along with her family. She goes to Heaven or Emperica as it’s called in the book. She learns that she can choose what kind of angel she wants to be. There are four groups or castes of angels; Patrits (or Paties which handle administrative affairs), Sentinels (guardian angels), Aegians (the guides leading new angels to the gates) and Knights (which are the warrior angels). Fallon quickly chooses Knights because she remembers that she and her family were killed by Kjins (demons) and she wants to fight in the battle of good and evil. This means she will return to earth after a 30 year training period in a mortal body with special gifts. She returns the same age as she was when she died. She will also lose the wings she just received.

When she returns, we are into her 3rd year on earth. She is a very fierce Knight. She also feels inadequate as a human because she has experience on earth from the 70’s, so she doesn’t talk much. She has 3 friends from Emperica, who we see occasionally in the book and they are excellent friends or angels.

Her newest assignment takes her to a small college town and lives in a house. She is to enroll as a college student and search for a particular Kjin and kill him. Kjin are demons that possess bodies to do their bidding. They are told that the Kjin do not fight together but she kills one the first night she is there and is told that is not the one she is after by the her contact, Father Tomas. He knows exactly who the target is, Marc Ellis the president and professor at the school she is to attend. Why is there more than one kjin in the same area?

Her home is next door to Kade. Sweet Kade, he is a hero to me. He is selfless and kind. He also has Intuit tendencies and can see angelic and demonic energies. He quickly falls for Fallon. She is falling for him too but she is torn because of her duty. She is also torn because she finds out that Kade’s uncle is no other than her target, Marc Ellis.

There is a lot of action and betrayal and several different things going on. Lots of mystery to figure out. There were stories about Father Tomas’s background and his alter boy’s behavior. How long has Marc Ellis’s body been possessed by a demon? What will Fallon decide to do about Kade? She can erase his memories so that he won’t remember anything, because he learns everything about her. I like that I didn’t see some things coming. I like good vs. evil stories. I loved the vivid way the author describes the world.

I just wanted to see the relationship between Kade and Fallon go a little slower. I mean it was like instant love. I had a hard time feeling it. He was always a perfect gentleman and never would compromise her desire to remain a virgin until marriage. But she also didn’t see that marriage would ever be an option to her. She didn’t feel she should allow herself to fall in love because of who she was and what her job was. But Father Tomas told her it was a gift. I would have to agree, love is a gift.

Reviewed by Kelly.

I enjoy a Military man in a romance suspense story. I love the thought of protection and safety in a story. I love action. I love a kick butt female character too. This story had it all.

I heard of this book on Nereyda’s blog; www.MostlyYABookObsessed.com . I had to read it after I read her review. And it was a great deal too!

I can’t even compare with her review. But, I loved the suspense and action and wit and the kick butt female lead. I loved how Shane slowly got his memories back. I loved the last memory he found. Interesting. I loved the inner struggles that Josie had trying to figure Shane out and what she should do. Because it was obvious she still loved him. I loved, loved, that part! It’s where you figure out what is family and what is important and what you are willing to compromise. I loved the band of brothers and their definitions of family.

The government experiments on humans were a whole other story line that I really craved. I am anxious to see how all that unfolds. Because that part of the story makes me mad.

I know this isn’t an in depth review. I just enjoyed the story and wanted to share.

Needless to say, I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one. That one will be about Matt.

There is blood and violence and killing in this book, so be warned. It is definitely an adult book.

A Giveaway - Just Because

Since I am new here, I thought I would have a giveaway. Everybody loves a giveaway!!

I just want to introduce myself. I am Kelly. I love to read. I often read at the expense of my family and chores.
I am married, have children, a full time job as a labor and delivery nurse on night shift.Yes, I have caught many babies when the doctor doesn't make it in time! :) I am just getting going on getting fit and have a personal trainer who whips me into shape. I don't feel like like I am getting into shape! I feel more like jello and can't descend the stairs without saying "Ow,Ow,Ow,Ow,Ow" all the way down the steps.

I read whatever is thrown at me. I have been known to throw out a book or two if I didn't want to read it. Just kidding,I have only thrown out one book. My favorite books are Young Adult. There is something about young love, getting to know someone and first kisses. I love Jane Austen. I couldn't tell you my favorite book because there are so many.I enjoy many authors too. My list is too long to write. One of my all time favorite authors is Marcia McClure!

I live in South Carolina. My hubby and I are from Maryland and he was tired of the snow,so we moved here. We have two sugar gliders. My husband is addicted to giving platelets every week if he can get away with it. I am too chicken to let someone stick me every week. (I know I am a nurse, I can dish it out all day but I can't take it myself)

I hate bugs. I love chocolate. I love antiques. I like to bake but I am not really into cooking. I enjoy camping and going to the beach. I don't swim. When I was little, they threw me in the deep end more than once. I can swim, I just panic! I say "good luck with that" and "how's that working for you" too much. I hate my picture being taken so you don't see much of me.

I tweet- alot. Like I have over 13,000 tweets. Because I have an obsession with reading and I want to read every book someone has on their blog. So,I enter every contest.I swear I spend 2 hours a day reading other people's blogs. I just don't comment alot because I know I have a lot more to read. I Have A Question

I think I might make this a weekly thing. Because I have lots of questions to see how everyone else blogs. And, I am new to this world. Well to the blogging world. I have written reviews on goodreads.

My question this week is- How do you like to read sequels? Do you read them when they come out or do you like to wait until the next book or all the books come out?

I forget alot of the little details when I wait. I do write notes to keep but sometimes I don't put things down thinking that I will remember it. Of course, I don't. Some series I am so connected to, I remember them vividly and I have no problem remembering.

I also hate waiting!! I hate cliffhangers to wait for as well. I mean, that works because I remember how frustrated I felt at the ending. Grrr.... I see that alot on my reviews when I have to wait.

So tell me- how do you like to read sequels?.....

Grishma by Kelly Anne Blount

Grishma by Kelly Anne Blount.
Audience/Genre: Fantasy, YA.
Publication: March 10th 2013 by Limitless Publishing.
In the world of Necoh, everyone fears Grishma, a hideous murderous beast responsible for ruining or ending the lives of anyone who dare cross her.

As a young boy, Ryder lived with his family, deep in the caves underneath the Kadin Forest, unaware of the horrors of the world. His simple world was turned upside down one horrible night when Grishma attacked his family, killing his father and kidnapping his mother and younger sister.

From that night on, Ryder devoted his life to killing Grishma. He tracked the monster from Necoh, to our world, and back again. Unfortunately, during his quest, he accidentally transported Brooklyn, a high school junior into his tumultuous world, where she is mistakenly identified as Princess Sophie, the missing princess of Sumner.

Days after Princess Sophie’s return, Grishma plots and manipulates the King into drugging and marrying off his only daughter to Prince Algid of Dratun. Desperate to save Brooklyn, who now believes she is the long lost princess, his mother, and his little sister, Ryder embarks on the deadliest part of his quest.

Will he save Brooklyn? Will she ever regain her memory? What will become of his mother and sister?

Through epic adventure, loss, and love, GRISHMA depicts the strength of the human spirit and the tight bonds formed by the unique creatures of Necoh.

Reviewed by Kelly.

This is a wonderful fantasy story of a quest of a young man out to find his sister and mother and kill the beast, Grishma, who killed his father and kidnapped the others in his family. (Grishma is described so well that I felt nauseous at the thought of how she smelled. I don’t like strong fish smells.) His quest takes him to our world where he, Ryder, is at a party and sees Brooklyn. They make eye contact and a moment passes between them. Brooklyn though is infatuated with another boy and finds out at the party that her best friend hooked up with said guy. She runs out of the party and into Grishma. But before anything happens, she is saved by Ryder (he is a really good guy and makes a very swoon worthy knight in shining armor) and transported to his world, Necoh.

Brooklyn and Ryder form a bond but they are again separated as Grishma finds her and she gets away. Now Ryder has to find her again. Brooklyn meets strange and mystical creatures and is betrayed by one and brought to the castle because she looks like the lost princess. While at the castle, we find Grishma seems to have control over the king. Soon, Brooklyn is drugged and believes she is the missing princess and is married off to a neighboring prince and journeys with him to his kingdom. Meanwhile, Ryder forms bonds with other creatures and they go to find Brooklyn, his sister and mother and kill Grishma. They find his sister, who is also drugged and doesn’t recognize Ryder. They find his mother who is chained in a cell. She is the one who makes potions and is needed by Grishma. His mother is rescued but his sister was transported with Brooklyn/Princess Sophie.

Ryder finds more allies along the way. You can see that there is a lot going on and lots of action. The end is a cliffhanger. I enjoyed the story line. I was sick that Brooklyn’s marriage was consummated, because she believed she loved this guy. That kind of bothered me if her connection was to be with Ryder and the instant love kind of thing she had with the prince. She does eventually get her memory back and then things go really south from there. Where I enjoyed the story, some things still bothered me. I had a hard time with the story told in third person. It took away some of it for me. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Ryder and Brooklyn and I really wanted it.

I do want to read the next book to see what happens. This really is a different fantasy story and is an easy and enjoyable read. Plus, I want to learn more about what Grishma is and what her deal is. The cover is stunning. If you look close you see eyes staring at you. They are like cat eyes. I think this book has great potential for a great sequel. I give 3.5 stars.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

The School for Good and Evil (The School for Good and Evil, #1) by Soman Chainani

The School for Good and Evil (The School for Good and Evil, #1) by Soman Chainani.
Audience/Genre: Children, Middle-grade/Fantasy.
Publication: May 14th, 2013 by Harper Collins.
“The first kidnappings happened two hundred years before. Some years it was two boys taken, some years two girls, sometimes one of each. But if at first the choices seemed random, soon the pattern became clear. One was always beautiful and good, the child every parent wanted as their own. The other was homely and odd, an outcast from birth. An opposing pair, plucked from youth and spirited away.”

This year, best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to discover where all the lost children go: the fabled School for Good & Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains. As the most beautiful girl in Gavaldon, Sophie has dreamed of being kidnapped into an enchanted world her whole life. With her pink dresses, glass slippers, and devotion to good deeds, she knows she’ll earn top marks at the School for Good and graduate a storybook princess. Meanwhile Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks, wicked pet cat, and dislike of nearly everyone, seems a natural fit for the School for Evil.

But when the two girls are swept into the Endless Woods, they find their fortunes reversed—Sophie’s dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School For Good, thrust amongst handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication.. But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are…?

The School for Good & Evil is an epic journey into a dazzling new world, where the only way out of a fairy tale is to live through one.

I can't believe I waited this long to write this review. By now, most people probably already know about the awesomeness of this book.

The kids at Gavaldon grow up believing in fairytales and especially in The School for Good and Evil. Every couple of years, two kids are taken from the village; one gets into The School for Good, where he/she is trained to be a hero and find his/her happy-ever-after, while the other kid gets into The School for Evil, where villans are made. The story follows Sophie and Agatha, two girls who couldn't be more different from each other.

I wanted to get my hands on The School for Good and Evil as soon as I read the blurb and the book trailer just made me jump up and down in anticipation.
Luckily, thanks to Chainani and Harper Collins, I was able to get my hands on ARC. I swear, I devoured this book in just a couple of hours, I loved it from start to finish.

Magic, love, honor, goodness, heroes, villans, battle, enchantments and what-not - this book has pretty much everything!

This is the stuff of fairytales and when this gets made into a film, I'll be one of the first in line to watch it!

Sweet Peril By Wendy Higgins

Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins.
Audience/Genre: YA,Paranormal Romance.
Publication: Published April 30th 2013 by HarperTeen.
Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Reviewed by Kelly.

I had a big grin on my face when I started this book. I was so excited to get started. If you haven’t read the first book; be forewarned there are spoilers ahead. We start off with Anna “working” at a party. She acts like she drinks and takes drugs and gets others to do the same. Yet the whole time, she feels guilty. She is not really a party girl and she doesn’t like what she is doing. But there was a demon whisperer there so she had to act the part since she is a nephilium and is supposed to work against humanity (as Rahab had said). If she chooses not to work and is caught, her life could be forfeit. But she is also a daughter of an angel and is really pure at heart. She worries for the people she leaves drunk and follows up with them the next day to make she they are ok.

Her father is a Duke, his sin is substance abuse. Which from the first book makes it her weakness as well. The Dukes work for Satan and pollute the world. He is really a great father. He teaches her morals. Go figure.

Anna still loves Kaidan, or Kai, and misses him. But they also cannot be together or they would be killed. They have jobs to do and aren’t allowed to have a life of their own.

Kope remains very fond of Anna and we get to see more of that in this book. Don’t worry; just think about the picture on the cover if you are.

The nephilium are tired of being forgotten and ordered around by their parents. But there is hope in the form of an angel. This angel is the nun from the convent that Anna didn’t get to see before she died in the first book. She tells Anna a prophecy. I will share that with you:

In the days demons roam the earth and humanity despairs,
Will come a great test. A Nephilim pure of heart
Shall rise above and cast all demons from earth, sending home
To heaven those righteous lost angels with whom forgiveness is shown,
And sending those lost forever to the depths of hell where they shall
Remain with their dark master until the end of days.

After her meeting with the angel, Anna calls her dad and tells him everything. This is where the meat and potatoes of the book go. Anna sets off around the world, with her dad giving the where and when, to find allies to help in their quest to fulfill the prophecy. They don’t know exactly when or where or how to fulfill it yet, but they need an army.

Kope and Anna are together for most of these missions. This is where things get awkward with the two of them. Kaidan seems to want no part of Anna and Anna doesn’t know why. So.... I am not gonna tell you what happens next. But my stomach went sour here. I am definitely team Kaidan.

Now, it seems as they go around the world, time is not on their side and things do not always go as planned. Anna must fight for everything and everyone she believes in.

I so wanted to share something with you from the book but it would be a major spoiler and so I won’t, but it is beautiful. So, I will share another piece. This one makes me sad for them and happy at the same time;

People often referred to life in oceanic terms: a sea of possibility, plenty of fish in the sea. But it wasn't that way for Nephilim. We were like fish kept in nets, expected to do the bidding of sharks or be eaten by them. The sea held no possibility for us. But here and now we found ourselves in a private tank without a shark in sight. It was tiny and temporary. We were buoyant.

SIDE NOTE I had my daughter read the first one (she’s 13). I used it to discuss some of the very things the nephilium were “working” on. This book- I don’t think I will let her read. Where nobody goes all the way, it is not for a 13 year old in my opinion. The other one wasn’t really either but I used it to talk about some of the issues, this one is a little more intense.
I bought this book myself.
