This book had me giggling, crying and a saying a lot of “oh no he didn’t”!! I love this book. It was original! I loved the heck out of Robert (the dog). There is an epilogue in his POV. That had me balling my eyes out!! How could anyone not love this story!!

We have Kate who owns a matchmaking service with a few of her best friends. They are really sincere about putting together people. They all have talents that work together in helping others. Thing is – they all have flaws of their own to finding their own matches. Kate is unique in that she has a touch that is a gift/curse that gives her a shock when she has the right match (when she touches them). She has had some failures of matches of her own and is a virgin at 30 years old. Good for her!

Anyway, Jane is a client. She has had a real hard time with relationships in the past and her brother/ divorce lawyer is her only family left and is a fierce protector. He (Slade) thinks Kinnections (the name of the matchmaking company) is out to take all of Jane’s money and decides to join it to prove it and watch over Jane.

Well, Slade and Kate have an immediate attraction. Then when they touch, they both get an intense shock and Kate knows she is in trouble. This guy is her match. He, however, doesn’t believe in long lasting relationships and is only there to prove them to be a scam. Slade believes this due to the fact that he once had a wife, one who cheated on him and he has seen a lot being a divorce lawyer! Kate tries to avoid him and him, her. But, neither can seem to keep the other off their mind.

Kate’s mother is hilarious. She is a sex therapist in the literal sense of the word. She smokes pot and is in the long line of women who have the gift of touch.

Kate also has a dog with severe handicaps that she rescued and loves fiercely. Slade seems to be fond of her dog too.
This is the story of Kate and Slade and how Slade learns that all people aren’t like his divorce clients and real love with lasting relationships does exist.

Quotes to think on…

“I’m not built for forever. At least, not with someone who thinks love is a fairy tale and we’ll live happily ever after. You haven’t seen the things I have, the truth of what so-called love does to people. There is no forever.” Slade
"I'm not looking for forever. But I am looking for someday. I think I deserve that." Kate

“The possibility of love is worth everything Mr. Montgomery. Pain, heartbreak, grief. It is the only thing worthwhile to fight for in this life. And though there are never any promises, if one is true and brave enough to give, there will never be regret. “Kate

“Yeah, a matchmaker and a divorce lawyer. That’s got success written all over it.”

“I guess if you never give up and keep fighting, eventually you find the one meant for you, or the ones……
Daddy walked over, patted me on the head, and gave me my treat. I munched on the crunchy treat, pulled Bunny Squeak closer, and felt happy. I guess sometimes you can’t give up hope, even if you are broken.” Robert the dog.
