Audience/Genre:YA ,Fantasy, Mythology and Paranormal Romance.
Publication:Published May 20th 2013 by Firetrail Publishing.
Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

I loved this book and can’t wait for August to come to read Immortals (Book #2) in the series because she freaking left me on a sort of cliffhanger dragging my emotions over the ending of this book!

We find out a lot about Norse mythology. I love the Fates in this book too. You see Runes everywhere by the end of the book.

Raine is a girl just going along minding her own business in the world trying to play it safe. Her father went missing after a plane crash in Hawaii not too long prior to the start of the book. Her mom and she are saddened; her mom doesn’t give up hope though. Raine has a boyfriend, sort of, that has been her best friend forever. There really aren’t sparks flying there, but Raine thinks there is until Torin comes along and gets under her skin. Raine learns that magic is real and she isn’t sure she wants anything to do with it. But when it comes to her friend’s safety, she will fight for them, magic or not!

Eirik is a safe guy. He is Raines’s supposed boyfriend. He spends a lot of time over the years at Raine’s house. There is no real love with his adoptive parents. He is sweet and kind and a hero. I want him to be happier.

Cora is Raine’s best friend and sidekick. She is funny and outspoken.

Torin is an enigma that you can’t seem to figure out and so badly want to. He is definitely swoon worthy! He doesn’t have time for love, but sometimes, your heart doesn’t care what you do or don’t have time for. I love that about Torin, he struggles within himself and you get to see that about him. Your heart bleeds for Torin.

The three of them are on a swim team and seem to run into death a lot. I don’t want to say too much, because the trying to figure out what is going on is half of the fun of the book. There are many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. In fact, some of it was the opposite of what I thought was going to happen. Loved that!!

I know I am being vague. But if you like mythology or are a fan of The Mortal Instruments you will enjoy this book. Let me just tell you that once you get a few chapters into the book you will be hooked and by the end you will be saying “What just happened?” and will be sad until the next book comes out in August.I did think at first it was too much like the Mortal Instruments, but it’s not so keep reading it!

And I voted for Torin on the YA Crush Tournament before I read the book, because I had that much faith that he is the one who should win!
