The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

I read Shadowfever a year ago and when I found out KMM's writing a trilogy based on Dani, frankly I wasn't too interested. I figured there's no way she'd be able to re-create the experience I had with Mac and Barrons. However, I still wanted to read Iced, because, let's face it, like everyone else I was craving for more of the Fever world.

I'm ashamed to admit this but I think I like Ryodan and Dani better than Barrons and Mac. This book blew me away! Karen's writing's just as amazing as the rest of her books and some of the lines gave me goosebumps (and butterflies) numerous times. The only thing that's different (or maybe lacking) is the plot - I didn't find it as dark as Mac's storyline but there's room for it to get more serious and KMM's probably going to do that with the next book.

Iced has everything that was awesome with the Fever series and fans will not be disappointed. I'm itching to get my hands on Burned, the wait's going to kill me! Argh.

  1. Oh I can't wait to get my hands on this one. So glad to hear it turned out better than you were expecting!

  2. I am still in recovery. This book was super funny and disturbing in a way. Like Dani is 14 but the sexual tension with Ryodan is so thick you can cut right through it. And the ending was a total cliffhanger. Gah!

  3. I just finished it and it was totally amazing!!! I will probably reread it in a few weeks so I can really absorb everything and analyze Ryo's every move.
I'm not sure I love Dani & Ryo more than Mac & Barrons, but D&R have way more interactions so it's more interesting.
It's definitely not as dark and I was a little disappointed in the lack of an overall story arc for Dani's series. Yes, there are subplots left hanging, but it felt more like, in book #1 we fight this monster, in book #2 it will be this monster, etc.
I wasn't expecting to fall in love with Dani's series, but I totally did. She can be a little immature at times, but this is just the beginning of her journey.

    1. Aah! If I knew your twitter id, I'd tweet you right now. Hope you see this.
I agree, I was a bit blah about the monster plot but I loved D & R's chemistry. She's so clueless and I'm curious to see how KMM's going to pull this off considering Dani's a virgin and has absolutely no experience with boys/men. I don't really care about the story at this point, just need more D & R. Another thing is that there're only 3 books featuring Dani so things have to happen pretty quick. Can't wait to read the next book!

    2. Totally, more D & R!!! The Fiction Vixen Book Reviews has a great post on why and why not each guy could be Dani's HEA. I think you would enjoy it, I know I spend at least a half hour in the comments!

I know, only 2 more books! I kind of wish Dani would get 5 books.
