Hello! Today is my stop on the Flock book blog tour. Flock is the 3rd instalment in the Stork Trilogy. I've a This or That Post with the author for you guys today =)
Flock (Stork #3) by Wendy Delsol.
Audience/Genre : Young Adult/Paranormal.
Publication : September 25th 2012 by Candlewick Press.
The climactic conclusion of a supernatural romantic trilogy starring a savvy, sharp-tongued heroine who taps into ancient Norse secrets.
After surviving her (shall we say) intense adventure in Iceland, Katla is psyched to be back for a blissfully uneventful senior year of homecoming and fashion explorations. But her hopes of dodging unfinished business are dashed by the arrival of two Icelandic exchange students: Marik, an oddly alluring merman-in-disguise, and Jinky, a tough gypsy girl. It seems Katla not only enraged the Snow Queen by rescuing her boyfriend, Jack, she also was tricked into promising her frail baby sister to the water queen — and Marik has come to collect. What’s worse, Katla doesn’t dare confide in anyone lest she endanger them, so even her soul mate, Jack, is growing suspicious. And now Katla’s stork dreams, her guide for matching babies with mothers, have become strange and menacing as well. Hold on for a thrilling finale as the heroine of Stork and Frost calls on her wits (and her wit) to protect those she loves and face a final mythic disaster.
This or That!
Thanks for being here today Wendy!
Writing first-person POV seems to come easiest to me. I know I get more words on paper on a daily basis with this perspective. The Stork books are all written as if narrated by Katla, and I loved going deep into her thoughts (and snarkasm). On the other hand, it can be limiting. A secondary character (Katla’s love interest, Jack, for instance) can never have his/her own scene.
My adult novel, The McCloud Home for Wayward Girls, uses a third-person-close POV from the perspectives of three different characters. The multi-generational cast and plot lent itself to this format.
Peanut butter or Nutella?
Ooh. Nutella. Except I don’t dare keep it around. Too tempting.
Summer or Winter?
Summer. No contest. Like my character Katla, I am NOT a fan of winter. I do love the people here in Iowa. But the weather … not so much.
Prince Charming or Bad Boy?
Prince Charming. My character Jack is a nice guy. And I’m so pleased to hear from readers who like this about him.
Dumbledore or Gandalf?
Dumbledore. And wouldn’t he and McGonnagal make a cute couple?
Zombies or Vampires?
Vampires. From what I’ve seen of Zombies, they’re terrible conversationalists.
Disneyland or Universal?
Disney. When we lived in L.A., we had season passes to both. Disney was our family favorite. Star Tours is my favorite ride. I like the cob salad at the Plaza Inn on Main Street. The Pirates of the Caribbean boat cruise is always worth the wait, too.
Mac or Windows?
Mac. My laptop is Windows, and our desktop is Mac. My next laptop will probably be a Mac. In my opinion, the Mac is more user-friendly.
Flowers or chocolates?
Chocolates. Flowers are nice, of course. But I’ve always had a sweet tooth. And this new combo of chocolate and sea salt. Yum.
Books or Movies?
Gosh. I love both. Books allow you to really linger in another world. But sometimes a two-hour movie is the perfect wind-down to the day.
