The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
Have you ever found yourself wishing that a book wouldn't end? Trying your hardest to read it as slow as possible so you could treasure/savour the story? That's how I felt while reading Half-Blood.
And here I thought Obsidian was awesome. Half-Blood by Jennifer Armentrout had EVERYTHING that I love all wrapped up in one book - Awesome plot, kick ass characters and really hot romance.
When I started reading this book, I noticed similarities between Vampire Academy and Half-Blood but really, they weren't alike at all. I'm a HUGE Richelle Mead fan and I feel like I'm cheating on her by saying this, but Half-Blood was so much better than VA. I loved every word/page/chapter of this book. I couldn't tear my eyes away from its pages and I devoured the entire book in less than 3-4 hours. It was that good. I found myself checking my iPad every few minutes
With the whole vamp fad out of the way, it was refreshing to read a story that's based on Greek Mythology. Alex is witty, brave, strong, smart, amazing and all the synonyms that go with it! I usually hate love triangles, I find them frustrating and they rarely work for me but Arementrout's definitely pulled it off. I love Aiden, I really do but I also have a thing for Seth. I'm torn between them, God knows how Alex would be able to choose.
While the chemistry between Alex and Aiden is obviously strong, I cannot wait to see how the Armentrout is going to explore the relationship between her and Seth. How on earth do you balance forbidden love with destiny? I can't believe I have to wait an entire month to read Pure.
Jennifer Armentrout is definitely my new favorite young adult paranormal author!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite series is Ascension. It is about vampires with wings who are warriors. There are 8 warriors and each of them have their 'soul mate' which they know by scent. The description in the book is really good and there are humorous parts too which give you a good laugh if you get it. I recommend this book to those who like to reas books with quite a bit of sexual tension and yet have a good storyline.

I haven't read a lot of paranormal fiction, but what I know of myself is that I'd most likely be attracted to a series with vampires! When given a list to choose from, I didn't realize that every book I had chosen was exactly about them! I even had read The Twilight series (all books) in five days, total! I had become a hardcore fan.
