The Kingdom (Graveyard Queen #2) by Amanda Stevens

The Kingdom (Graveyard Queen #2)The Kingdom by Amanda Stevens

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"The only place I ever felt truly at home was the cemetery. My graveyard kingdom."

For those who haven't read The Restorer yet :

This is undoubtedly the creepiest, spookiest and awesomest series I have ever read! Okay so I haven't read The Prophet yet but Amanda Stevens is seriously one hell of a writer. If you're into horror/scary stuff, then The Graveyard Queen series will definitely give you shivers!

And for those of you who have :

I requested an ARC of The Kingdom and The Prophet and to be honest, it was the first time I had heard of The Graveyard Queen series but the title caught my attention. Obviously, when I received these arcs, I bought the first book, The Restorer, so I can read them in order and I was gripped.

"Asher Falls is a ghost town."

Amelia has been commissioned to restore a cemetery at Asher Falls, a small eerie town with no access to the outside world. Everything about this town is wrong - the people, the mountains, you name it - and yet, something draws Amelia to it. This town is filled with secrets, mystery and evil. Asher Falls had a Silent Hill vibe going on and I don't know about you but that game/movie scares me to death.

Let me just say, The Kingdom isway better than The Restorer , Amanda Stevens kicked it up a notch with this one. The plot gets darker, more sinister and down-right chilling. Asher Falls spooked the crap out of me.

We get an insight into Amelia - her gift and her story - and it doesn't disappoint. There's new characters and all of them have been developed amazingly well. We don't see much of Devlin though, but I found it okay because I have a soft spot for Thane Asher.

All I can say is, I'm a huge horror fan and I rarely rate books five stars but The Kingdom definitely deserves it!
