Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan

Nick & Norah's Infinite PlaylistNick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I realize that I'm one of the last people to hear about this book, but I'm just SO GLAD I found it! 'Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist' is just a wild, happy, wonderful & amazing adventure and I was totally eating it up! Every page, I mean it. It's realistic, daring, and a MUST READ! The writing is addictive and the character's are intense and I loved both Nick & Norah, probably because I could relate to Norah a little bit- felt like me, around 4-5 years ago.

Nick's part of a band and they're performing a show when unexpectedly his ex walks in, with another guy. His ex whom he's not yet over by the way. So, desperate to not look pathetic, he asks the girl next to him to pretend to be his girlfriend for five minutes.

These five minutes lead them on the ride of their lives. This is love in real life. And it's beautiful in its own way. I cannot say enough about this book. It's for fans of realistic fiction & romance.

Oh also, the book's been made into a movie, which I just finished watching. DO NOT watch it before you read the book! Not that it's not enjoyable but it's just too different. To begin with, it's a funny-sweet teen movie and reduces the depth of the plot. But the soundtrack is totally cool & goes with the novel, if you're linking your books with certain music.

I'm making it one star short for a very tiny detail. While most of the book was realistic, it ends up ignoring the fact that both Nick & Norah were rebounds and while this story is possible, it seemed a little too much to happen in one night but then again, it does have a few movie elements in it.

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist is made of a lot of impulse, some chemistry and personally, a little bit of magic. :)

  1. Yes!!! I've been a Rachel Cohn fan for ages. She's too sweet! I even won a pre-released version of her book Cupcake in a contest and interviewed her for an old site of mine years ago. Loved this book. Her writing is addictive.

  4. This is a great review. I for instance didn't like the book so much. First, it's like the authors abused the word "fuck". It's not like I don't swear or something. Almost every third sentence had a "fuck" word in it.
But I agree with you, it's a wonderfully written realistic story.
