"Let me make it in time. Let me meet Shadow. The guy who paints in the dark. Paints birds trapped on brick walls and people lost in ghost forests. Paints guys with grass growing from their hearts and girls with buzzing lawn mowers."

I'm trying to figure out how to put my thoughts into words about this one and it's really really hard to explain. It's a feeling you get while reading the book and I'm not sure my words can do it justice.

Lucy has been looking for the graffiti artist named Shadow for a long time. Although she's never met him, she has seen his work all around the city and feels connected to him. Now, Lucy's heart's set on finding Shadow. She spends an entire night hunting for him, oblivious to the fact that she already knows him. He's the guy standing next to her.

If I had to pick one word to describe 'Graffiti Moon' it would be intense - in a breathtaking way. I have to credit Cath Crowley's writing for the awesomeness of Graffiti Moon. Her words kept me utterly transfixed. Shadow and Lucy are unique, dreamy and complex characters that exist in a world of their own that no one else understands. The story is written from both Shadow and Lucy's point of view,with a few bits of Poet (another character) thrown in. Throughout the whole novel, I felt like I was a part of an audience, sitting on the edge of my seat and watching the whole night play out while rooting for them!

"First thing I ever painted was a girl. Second thing I ever painted was a doorway on a brick wall. Went on to paint huge doorways. Moved on to skies. Open skies painted above painted doorways and painted birds skimming across bricks trying to fly away. Little bird, what are you thinking? You come from a can."

See? Intense. I could actually picture the paintings in my mind.

"Every time he looked at me, I felt like I'd touched my tongue to the tip of a battery."

I know this is weird but I have tasted the tip of a battery and when I read that line I TOTALLY understood what she was talking about - it literally gave me tingles. I could actually almost taste it.

I found even the minor characters highly entertaining, especially Jazz.

"Luce, when we were in the street talking, Leo's arm brushed my arm. I got static electricity down there."

Poet's kind of amazing too. You get to know and understand him just by reading his poems. If I quoted all the parts I liked about this book, this review wouldn't end! Honestly, now I'm just ranting.Just go out and get it.This is one of the best YA books out there. A little on the serious side and like I said, intense, but unique and thoroughly mesmerizing!

I really enjoyed this book, mostly due to the writing than the plot. Cath Crowley is amazing and I can't wait to read her other books!

Oh and the 4.5 stars? Let's just say I can't give a book five stars till it makes me laugh like a crazy person or cry like a child. While Graffiti Moon had me engrossed, I need to get really attached to the characters to give it five stars. I'm just fussy. So what're you waiting for? Go Go! Read it!
